XBOX (refurbished) for $89.99 at Fry's

The refurbs are definitely the way to go if you want to mod them. I got a 1.1 box with a TSOP that's easily enabled for writing. 15 mins with a 007AUF and it it was modded and I had an install of XBMC running on it. Cheap, and a lot easier to mod. Thanks, Frob

Is this on the Intel ICH5R controller? What BIOS rev are you running? All other reports indicate a problem with this and anything other than the original BIOS. Check out this thread at abit forums and report you configuration! I got the adapter from ajump and it worked fine. Now if only...

Springdale/Canterwood Prescott incompatibility "confirmed" by Inquirer

Why is this such a big deal? At a 100W of heat dissipation, I doubt the Prescott is going to be a good overclocker. By the time that part gets cheap to bring it into the range for the overclocking community, Intel will probably have gone to a different core rev that reduces the heat...

Mixing Serial ATA adaptors

Hi folks. I'm about to make the leap and upgrade to an abit ic7-g or is7-g motherboard. I have two WD 120 GB drives with 8M cache that I want configure in a raid 0 mode. I know the IC7-G comes with 1 serillel adapter, but getting a 2nd one seems to be a lot harder than the rockethead SATA...

I don't think you'll want to do RAID 0 with two different drives, even if the same the same capacity. Since they have different geometries and you're striping data cross them, you will end up with the worst case access times for each drive. At least if they are the same you don't get any worse...

Do all fans turn off in Standby

In S3 suspend-to-RAM mode, does the PCI bus also shut down? I ask because the criticool relay board (used to switch AC current to a pump for watercooling) gets it's power for the relay from the PCI bus and not the fan power. I want the watercooling system to shut down too is S3 mode, but don't...

According to the news at Avsforum the Fusion has been cancelled! What a drag - I was waiting on this to build my HTPC. How could they announce this, produce all the promo materials, and show off the prototypes and now cancel it with no replacement product in sight? Sigh... Frob

SLK3700AMB or PLUS1080AMG and other fan questions

I agree. The SLK3700AMB is a great case. I don't understand why manufacturers don't make more dual 120mm fan cases. I got locally for $64 2 weeks ago, including a 350W true-power supply... Can't beat it. Frob
