"Excludes Apple iPod MP3 Players" - that sucks! I was going to get one to give for christmas. Hmm...I wonder where I can get one of these below the MSRP.....
A lot of the KMart stores still have these AD-1500 in stock but at a higher price - $99.99 but you can still try to get them to pricematch if you bring in an ad or a receipt which is what my friend did and got a hackable unit for $69.99.
A tip...make sure you put it in a well ventilated place...
If I didn't get the 24x Cendyne deal last week for $35 I would definitely jump on this. I'm still in awe on how fast the Lite-On 24x is - I can burn a full 700MB in 4:08 compared to my old HP 8100 which takes four times as long. Anyway, a 15 sec gain going to the 32x12x40 is no biggie for me -...
<< Darn I was hoping the Acer drives had better feedback :( I guess if I hadn`t known better I would have been happy with this drive if I had plugged it in but now its going back and my OM dosn`t have any Lite-ons so maybe I should shoot for a A-open drive instead. >>
Somebody correct me if...
I used to have a few friends who worked for Acer and they always pronounce it "ey-sir". Whether that's the right way I don't know but that's also how I've been hearing it from other ppl. ;)
<< pogs , which store is that ? >>
Opps..sorry I forgot to mention which branch....it's the Bloomingdale store here in IL. I was just there an hour ago and did a swap with no hassles. They even apologized for sending me the Acer...go figure! :) The replacement drive I got is a Lite-On...
I got mine today and it's an Acer (bummer!). Luckily, I checked with my local OM and they still have a few boxes with 12 digit sn#. I'll be going there later today to swap this Acer.
This may sound nuts but I still remember paying $1,200 for a Sony 1x SCSI burner many years ago when they...
I dropped by OM this morning to buy some ink and while there I saw the Cendyne 24x10x40 box and it says "Smart Burn". I asked one of the clerks if I can have a look at one and it had a Lite-On inside. :) I tried to buy it with the $25 off $100 but they wouldn't allow it.
This certainly looks...
Does OM accept competitor coupons? I've got a $15 off $50 from OD and it would be nice if I can use it to get the drive sunday morning to see what's in the box. OM is only a block away from my place.
I want to get in on this but after the Polaroid 24x deal I wonder what the odds are of getting a real Lite-On, Teac or AOpen/Acer. I'd be happy to get any of those 3 as long as it's not a BTC. Oh well, only one way to find out! :)
Some CC stores (at least around here in Chicago) are already aware of the serial number thing. Some reps at the store will immediately ask you if you're looking for a particular serial number and will tell you straightaway if they have any more. But there are also lazy reps who refuses to...
<< One word of caution about hacking the player. If you make it region free you will not be able to play RCE encoded discs. Mostly
only being made for region 1 right now. This is an enhancement to the region encoding that requires a region to be set to allow
playback. Only about 10% to 15%...
Sony's got my vote but to get the best you have to spend a bit. You have to get the higher end model which are probably over your budget because the lower end models aren't worth it (in higher res). The Viewsonic PF790's are not too bad (what I currently have). The stabilizing wires on those...
My votes goes to PC Chips/ECS & Abit!
When I used to work at a comp shop I hated the day my boss started getting those SOB boards to save some cost. 7 out of 10 PC Chips boards fail or DOA. Abit's even worse at 8 of 10 ratio. It didn't take long for me to quit my job as I was spending more...
