Hello, Working with a Win98 workgroup and need to retrieve the message history of the Winpopup program, anyway of doing that after the fact? (PCs have been re-booted also) -Tex

Monitor distortion problem *update 5-31-04*

The monitor is not setting on top of a surge suppressor is it? Ive seen a problem similar to this.....long explanation. Really sounds like you have a faulty cap.

DVD Burner for Video

Wanting to get some user feedback and maybe a link or two on a good DVD-RW drive. I understand that RW will be the best for video, is that correct ? I was only able to find one review on DVD burners and I didnt see anything here on AT. Looking for something in a mid price range. Thanks

Best HS for P4/Abit IC7-G

ok thanks for the replies fellas. I think I will go with acemcmac's suggestion. Why is it such a bitch to install ace, its not just a simple four bolt operation ? Any pointers you have in that respect will be appreciated bro. ...and thanks for the info on bios temp problem with that board...

Best HS for P4/Abit IC7-G

Looking to purchase a P4 / 3.0CGHz and an Abit IC7-G MB. Looking through this forum it seems a lot of you like the SLK-800, will this be the best for this combo ? If so can anyone recommend a better solution (air) ? Also what fan will work with this HS or any you guys recommend ? Thanks

Just purchased this baby even tho I considered it a lil pricey but what the heck. Im running XP Pro (updated to the max) and Logitech drivers ver 9.73 (latest). Problem is that the mouse wheel no longer works in my game. I can uninstall the drivers and just go with what XP brings to the show...

What's a good heatsink/fan?

I would go with the Alpha Pal 8045 with some Artic Silver 3 compound. I don't understand the hard to get on statement, sucker is easy to get on and off :confused:

Do you have XP set to automatically restart on system failure ? If so disable that so you can at least get some blue screen info.

Just got this WD in and I'm very impressed with it. It's not only just as quiet but I didn't realize the speed I was missing. Also Sandra scores went from 18,000 to 31,000 ! Keep in mind that Atto test somewhat negates the 8MB buffer,both test done at default settings. Scores

Benchmark for Hard Disk Drives?

ATTo is the best IMHO, it measures actual disk performance and the cache buffer is somewhat negated.

What's this no response stuff?

Don't know if this will help but thought I'd post it for ya. From viahardware: Why must I switch on and off and then on again to make the system boot? If you have pencilled the L1 bridges on your processor in order to unlock the multiplier, then a poor connection can often cause this symptom...

Thx RSMemphis I'll do a little research on the parts you recommended. Maxtor does seem like a better brand choice to begin with. I've always used IBM for my IDE drives but have heard a lot of good things about Maxtor. Can an average user/gamer expect a lot of difference in going from ATA100...

It's hardly "micromanagement", it can mean the difference in a slow unresponsive system and one that runs well. Remember, larger IS better :D But if she's happy not knowing that more power to ya. As for me and my girl, she knows the truth :Q :D
