its onboard the gigabyte GA-8irxp
Creative 128 with a sigmatel codec
I thought it was unlikely to have blown the inputs, its certainly never happened before even with a full hifi wired in. But for some reason I am suddenly unable to capture any audio.
I've checked recording source, volumes...
Hi
I've been trying to record my old cassettes onto the computer so that I can turn them into CDs. So I had the cassette player plugged into the line-in and I could hear the music on that channel so I know there was a signal. I had the recording source set right and nothing was muted, but the...
Coming from the british tradition of a welfare state I can very quickly identify four justifications for providing a basic minimum standard of living for those not currently in work.
(1) We live at a time when enterprises are at liberty to dismiss their employees on minimal notice in order to...
Just had a look at the coolermaster desktop cases, black aluminium, fold down doors for drive access. Desktop cases have really come on since my last one, an old elonex 386. I wondered whether anyone else was tempted to switch back?
What happens if you install a cpu with a higher mulitplier than the motherboard officially supports?
It's set by the cpu right....so presumably it will either boot at the expected speed or not at all.
Has anyone had any experience with recent P4 gigabyte boards like the ga8 series?
cheers
life imprisonment sounds like the appropriate solution because while the guy is incapacitated he cannot commit similar crimes in the future. He sounds a dangerous type to have in society.
Having said that I think one should be hesitant to assume he 'deserves' such a sentence or even capital...
i will try it in safe mode to see what difference it makes...but for now i am pretty sure it is the monitor because a solid punch fixes it for a while.
thank you for your prompt replies.
Hi Will
Have already disabled all the power management features in case that was the problem. I will double check the bios to be sure though, thanks..
could it be anything else?
Hi -
I have a problem with the onboard video on the PcChips 810 mobo (sis730 chipset) where the picture on the monitor disappears randomly - i am left with a black screen. The only way to get the picture back is to restart the pc. The strange thing is that there is still a signal to the...
Hi - ive got an 810LMR and with that you have to press del repeatedly the very second you turn the pc on until you get the bios screen up. If you wait until the little message about pressing del it is too late. You've probably tried that already though ??
i've flashed 5 boards and the best advice i can give is to get hold of, read and follow the instructions from ABIT. The only flash that went bad for me was when the instructions were in Taiwanese....POXY PC CHIPS BOARDS!!!
If I plug a usb device (mice, camera etc) into my mobo (PC CHIPS M810lmr) windows XP reports an error installing the device.
Has anyone else had problems with their SIS 7001 USB controller and windows XP?
If so how did you solve it?
Warcon - I understood that the Halt On Error setting was solely concerned with the POST, (for instance the computer would fail to post if no keyboard were detected) in which case having booted there would be no question of the system halting.
Another possibility would be memory gone bad, can...
Thanks guys, the SVC isnt widely available in the uk so I will stick with coolermaster.
Though the 810mlr is based on the 730 chipset and so only takes PC133, i tend to agree with you Nortexoid, £12 more for crucial memory is sure to be worth it in the long run.
Thanks again
I am putting together a duron system with a PCCHIPS 810LMR mobo, not classy components but I am keeping cost to an absolute minimum. Are there any tips about avoiding crushed cores and other unwanted side effects ? No doubt it's a matter of common sense but I have heard a few horror stories. I...

When you looked at the compatibility tab, did you look at the memory tab? Try setting coventional memory to 600 and EMS/XMS to whatever the game requires.
Would anyone mind looking at this site, telling me what they think?
myurl
I put the site together but havent had any previous experience so i would much appreciate your advice.
Thanks, David
i understand that the i845 chipset is only compatible with 1.5v AGP cards, which typically means only AGP 4x. Older video cards need 3.3v and will damage the motherboard if you try to use them. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/faq/faq_vgainstall.htm
I have to agree with McCarthy - in my opinion it is quite reasonable for purchasers of expensive products to expect driver support throughout the lifetime of the card. The fact that the cards lack the latest features and fastest chips is irrelevant because the features that are included still...
- So why is the US apparently unpopular in Kuwait ?
- Maybe because since the Gulf War there has been a power struggle between two political schools of thought within Kuwait.
On the one hand there are many Kuwaitis who support political and social reform. In the last 10 years there have been...
RanDum, following your procedure is cool to get a fat32 partition but is there any way of getting it formatted under ntfs?
Maybe the only way is to create a small fat32 partition and format the remaining partitions after windows (xp) is underway?
ok granted qu1 is a novice one but the gigabyte manual is not absolutely clear

NOTE: This motherboard permits striped arrays using 1,2 drives.
i just wondered what it meant by 1,2 drives ....?
Im going to get a gigabyte GA-8IRXP with onboard raid and have a go setting one up - but its first time ive tried raid so im full of questions.
My idea is to have just one hard disk (maxtor 740dx) in raid 0 and for this to be the bootable drive. No other hard disks in the system (for now).
Q1 is...
