We do have a few workstations that have "abnormal" folders. One example is payroll software, which requires the user to have read and write access to that folder. For those computers I have removed local admin rights for the users, and added read and write access to just that specific folder...

I could send a company-wide email, but new employees wouldn't get this notice unless I send this email out every week! I'm sure upper management, including everyone else, wouldnt like being threatened all the time. Our user accounts have already been limited, no one has local admin access...

I don't need to turn off USB ports on each computer. Since each user logs on as a guest, their USB drive won't be installed because they don't have local admin access to install new hardware. And thank you blurredvision for noticing that is it an internal application!

Screen Resolution for 14" LCD

Hi everyone, I'm planning on buying a Thinkpad T60 with a 14" screen, and saw that the screen resolution only comes in 1024x768 or 1400x1050. Is 1400x1050 too small for a 14" monitor? I'd rather not turn up the font size. Thanks for your input!

Apple's Expose: Is there a Windows alternative?

Sorry, I've been playing with Dashboard, so I got it confused with F12. I haven't used Expose on my Mac for a while now. The 3 programs mentioned, besides SmallWindows, have hot corners that you can bind.

What would I need to be doing to require 1gig of RAM???

after playing the alpha version of a certain game (which will remain unnamed...), i noticed it took up 1.5gb of ram. of course that alpha isnt optimized and it is no indication that the final product will require that much....

How much PS is used for P4 3.06GHz

silentpcreview says that the p4 3.06ghz cpu takes 82W of power ON AVERAGE. the max should be much higher than that. i would definitely pick a brand name psu with strong rails and at least 200 on the 3+5v rails.

Lowest CFM/dBA fan for my AX7?

i vote for the panaflo L1A. i tried using a NMB 80mm silent fan before, and even tho it's only 18db, the motor noise was louder than the panaflo. the nmb also didnt push enough airflow to get decent temperatures.
