Did a hard reset - didn't help. The Ethernet is part of the mobo (ASUS P8Z77-Pro), I don't have a separate NIC.

The view has not been changed. I tried changing it to see it that would bring them back. That didn't help.

Nope. The OS is on an SSD. The new HD replaced an old HD used for video editing. I also didn't clone the old HD.

Yes. That wiped out most of my restore points. It didn't resolve anything else. I haven't yet tried to do a restore using one of the restore points that are left. I will try that later and see if that resolves it.

P182 upgrade?

I recently upgraded from the P180 to the Corsair 550D. Dramatic improvement in ease of building the computer and swapping out parts if you need to. Hard to compare noise level as I used different components, some of which produce less noise. Bottom line for me - dramatic improvement!

Update: I removed the on-board battery again, this time for about 20 minutes. Before when I tried to update the bios using the usb back port and the mobo bios update button, the green light would flash three or four times and then stay lit without blinking, which the support website indicates...
