Do beige drives look dorky in aluminum cases?

beige + silver = assy. A lianli case with spraypainted coveres looks descent. Iv never seen the stickers you mentioned :( This is why I just painted my case instead of getting an aluminum one: I can paint my face plates the same color, and it will look the same! I think that just paining...

pricewatch.com and memory prices

Iv been looking for a good deal on a 256MB stick of pc133 memory for a buddy of mine using www.pricewatch.com. There are lots of listings for sub 50USD 256MB modules on pricewatch.com, but when I check out the sites themselves, I cant seem to find anything better than 65 or so not counting...

Help with Budget PC

Im in the same boat. My computer illiterate friend needs a 'gaming' PC for less than 500 USD. I can only seem to get to about 550, and thats without me getting any profit :(. That gets him a Ti200 and a 1.33 athlon though...might change that to a 1.33duron... what would you do for a ~500...

50 ohm rheostat for fan speed control

We'll, there's a great general electronic's shop near where I live where I get stuff like that...but I wouldnt know about you :( Just look for some other electronics stores; theres bound to be more than just radio shack!

FSB overclocking

Thats what I did. Got upt o 150 not totally stable, and am currently running 148. :D Going to unlock my processor later...1700+=>1900+ is enough .... FOR NOW!!1! ;) When you hit a platue in OCing, raise the voltage a bit, run prime95 for awhile, up a mhz or 2, run prime 95 again, etc.

That damn locking strip...

Also, its ALOT easier with THREE people, especially when one of them has MOTHERLY SKILLz. ;) Still took us about 15 minutes! :o I think it isnt fitting right though :(. The window sticks outward on one side...probobly didnt cut my molding short enough :(.

Has Crucial gone MAD?! $96.00 per stick of 256MB PC2100!!!!

What I find strange is not that crucial pc2100 256MB sticks are 97 USD, but that a samsung pc2700 stick of 256 can be found for at least 10 USD less :Q

where to buy cheap blue LEDs?

nice! I piced a few up at my local radio shack, but I forgot to pick up resistors :o Good thing its a <2min drive. heh :D I got a pretty good deal on them, I think: 2.5+tax for a 5mm blue LED. Got 2, one for each CDROM drive. Problem is, I cant figure out where to install them :( I feel...

First-time modders should read this

akira, you wouldnt happen to frequent IGN would you? anyway, Iv been planning on replacing my CDROMs' LEDs with some spiffy blue ones I picked up, but: 1) forgot to by resistors :o 2) the lights in my CDROM drives are little clear rectangles. NO IDEA where to plug the LED into :(

Im pretty sure thats what it is... Are you saying to just line the cut hole with the liner? Doesnt really help any :( I think I have some left from installing my window though...so maybe... ;)

Turn off my HSF's fan when CPU @ Idle?

turned off my northbridge fan and the temp jumped to 53 :(. Seem like a descent temp, or is this something I really shouldnt be doing?

currently running w/o fan running. Im at 43degrees C after about 5 minutes of running. Im hoping that its topped out. If it stays here, Id be happy to run w/o fan at idle... this would be a good time to use that VIA HALT mod...good thing Im running a 266a ;)

I finished painting my case (here) and I am now realizing that I want to add fans :(. Im going to put them in the bottom left corner of the side shown in the pic and then a top blow hole. How can I cut these holes without totally screwing up my paintjob? heh, and Iv got pictures of my baybus...

Where could I pick up one of these airbrushes? Any links on how to use them well? Im looking for a multi-color fade effect, so just masking and spraying is out (I tried it, actually. Looks ok, but I want more! :D)

Will a CDROM drive from an AT computer work in current PC's?

A friend of mine is dismantling her PC and putting together a new one, and she has this really neat 5 - bay slot loading CDROM drive! I was wondering if I could put this into an ATX case. Anyone know?
