ati radeon 8500le or geforce 3 ti200 ?

Out of those two cards defintely the Radeon! They no longer have "bad" drivers, ever since the 6037's came out ive had no problems and neither has the majority of people (they are up to 6071 btw). Although I think if you can afford it the best value for money card atm is the Ti4200.

8500LE 64MB or 128MB

The extra 64MB RAM makes a significant difference on radeon 8500's, even at low res.

Netscape 7 Preview

P4 or Athlon for a 3D gaming machine

Also worth noting is the P4 has SSE2 which most future games will be optimised for. P4 + SSE2 optimisations is alot faster than P4 without them.

Is the Radeon 8500 or GeForce 4600 overkill for a P3 700 @ 1 gig??

Even though the Gf4 is the faster chip, I read that the ATi's like a faster processor more than nvidia chips. Anyways I had a P3 800 with Radeon 8500, when I upgraded to a Northwood 1.6@1.8 I got about another 60% point increase in 3DMark 2001. So yes I think your processor will limit you too...

Building a Server Need some Advice?

Id say option 2. It will be cool, quiet, reliable and as long as you have enough RAM (256MB or more) more than fast enough for simple games servers.

Help- pentium 4 2.4ghz- RDRAM or DDR?

After reading these two reviews: http://www.aceshardware.com/read.jsp?id=45000300 http://www.xbitlabs.com/mainboards/sis645dx/ Which are both from respectable sources. You will see the SiS645 with PC2700 DDR-SDRAM is faster than PC800 RD-RAM.

Ive heard bad things about OCZ ram too. I own some Kingmax (TinyBGA) PC2700 and its great.

p4 or amd xp??? update!!!

r250/r300?

Just for reference, the R250 will be at speeds of about 350/350 and a match for the Gf4. The R300 is going to be about twice as powerful as the current Radeon 8500. According to ATi anyway.

I tried clearing CMOS and it didnt work. The fact that it doesnt overclock well and has died is probably related dont you think?

I own an ASUS P4S333 and a Northwood 1.6Ghz. I have been running my system at 1.76Ghz (my processor was a very poor overclocker) for a few days then suddenly I restart and I get nothing, even bios wont post. All I can hear is "System failed CPU test". Does this mean I have a dead processor...

No they havnt :P All P4's run on a 100Mhz QP bus. Id be inclinded to use Intels new chipset that supports 1066Mhz RD-RAM with the newer P4's though.

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ vs. Intel P4 1.6a - what is faster?

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ vs. Intel P4 1.6a - what is faster?

A P4 1.6@2.1 would kill an Athlon XP 1700+ in the majority of apps. Not just because of the clock speed but the increased bus speed on a P4 healps alot especially when using RDRAM.

Yeah im positive. I have confirmed it with three programs, the chip, the box, the bios :) Ive tried inching my way and going to 133fsb in one hit. It doesnt matter what settings I use, jumpers or different mem ratios's it just wont boot at 133fsb :|

Im not sure what this "wire trick" is? URL please? Also I changed voltage right up to 1.7v, went into windows and confirmed it with ASUS Probe then restarted and upped my system bus. It made no difference :(

whats your opinion on the OCZ PC3000 ddr ram?

After reading the forums at www.overclockers.com alot of people seem to prefer the Kingmax PC2700 (it uses TinyBGA packaging so it runs cooler than any other brand). Ive heard many stories of the OCZ not performing to what its rated at.
