I'll sell you a brand new in the box Samsung BDP-1600 that's pretty quick. It's what I have and it's pretty quick for loading discus and does Netflix, Blockbuster, YouTube, and Pandora as well.
As someone that installs whole house audio systems and such for a living, I'd recommend getting the guy that ran the wiring back in to advise on how things were wired. Some electricians are well versed in low voltage and others still don't realize you shouldn't jump wires from one location to...
I usually don't crank them all the way to 400mW anyways unless absolutely necessary. Obviously it quickly becomes a matter of creating additional noise and not getting a better signal because of the excessive noise. However I prefer to use a single AP when possible because of the irregularity...
I use Engenius gear all the time and can get their 400mw APs to cover 10,000sq ft homes on a regular basis to give you an idea. Try doing that with a Linksys, Netgear, or D-Link!
You'll want to use the DD-WRT box as a client bridge to connect it to the airport. That will give you internet connectivity as long as the airport is connected to the Buffalo router.
HTH!
Anyone have experience with the Netgear ProSafe line of routers? I'm finding that Netgear is used by the vendor whose gear I'm trying to integrate and they say it works well so I'm looking for any insight on Netgear ProSafe routers and wireless APs.
Thanks!
I'm testing the DGL-4100 right now so let's hope it proves to be stable and I don't have to search any further for a reliable router that doesn't break the bank...Thanks for the insights!
I've never seen a wireless router that forced you to run a certain channel in order to get the advertised bandwidth. Besides it sounds like that may be what Windows is reporting as the speed but based on the problems you described, that doesn't sound to be the case. Did you change the default...
I'd be more than willing to run modded firmware on a router in my own home but I just can't see doing that for clients in their offices and homes. With the home theaters and whole house audio systems I'm installing requiring a robust and reliable network, it's essential to have a router that...
I've often found that Linksys routers run more smoothly out of the box then after firmware upgrades. I just wish someone could make a router that would simply run and run but wasn't the price of a Cisco!
I know it's just QOS but I'm trying to find a router that's very stable and has little to no issues. I've dealt with too many routers that about one a month or so decide they won't hand out an IP address or just lock up for whatever reason. I'm hoping to get something I can simply plug in and...
I'm going to give one of the D-Link gaming routers a shot and see how it works out. I really like the Zyxel routers but they're not always readily available.
I'm trying to determine the most reliable wired broadband router available for less than $150. I basically do installs in high-end homes and have tried several different products and am curious what other people have experienced. I had someone recommend Snapgear but they do a lot more than...
I just logged in my RZ account and they said it's 100 bonus points before 10am and since it takes 250 to get a $5 certificate, I don't see it worth a special trip. Of course I might just be there anyways! :)
Anybody that got the deal know if the connectors are TNC or SMA? If SMA, did they happen to include a TNC adapter? I'd like to use these on a Linksys WRT54G with reverse TNC connectors. TIA!
I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to use Microsoft's Remote Desktop to connect between 2 Windows 2000 machines. Everything I found only discussed connecting from a Windows 2000 machine to a Windows XP machine but not vice versa. Please someone tell me this can be done! It'd be grealty...
1. The problem is so many people have the number that I don't want to change it to a local number.
2. I figured a landline wouldn't be too cheap since SBC is my local provider and they can't do anything cheap.
3. VOIP seems to be my best bet but I figured there had to be some company out...
Basically my cell phone is long distance to the area in wich I live. I'd like to just purchase a local phone number that I can forward to my cell phone. The only thing I've been able to find is like Broadvoice.com VOIP service for $9.95/month plus startup costs.
Anybody else aware of a...
You'll only find Loewe TVs generally in your high end stores. Their a German manufacturer and make some beautiful TVs. I'd check out AVS forum to get a better idea if this particular model is worth having. It's a 30" CRT based model but not of the quality most people are used to seeing.
Perhaps people can post what CCs they've been charged fees on and which ones have not been charged. I called C2it on this and they said it depended on the CC. So it'd be very helpful to know which CCs charge and which ones don't as I (probably like a lot of people on here) sell some of my "hot...
After calling four BB stores, I finally found one that had the 850 receiver new in box. It was $266 and I got the free speakers. I debated on getting the 4 year service plan since it was only $35. I guess I have 30 days to decide if I want it so that'll just depend on how much this the...
Just curious if anyone has found any decent rebate tracking software or perhaps just an Excel template or simple Access database. I could build one but figured if somebody else already had then I wouldn't have to.
