    I just realized a new use for it. Use it for the hotkeys winamp plugins have to control winamp while playing games. So instead of pressing Ctrl-X or whatever the hotkey is I can now just use MS SSC for it.

    VegasF6, that info is originally from cdmediaworld.com and is years old. Note they mention using 8x burns, the media rated at 6x, and all 74min cdr's. And it's all based on ritek being the manufacturer. Ritek did suck hard back then, but they are ok now.

    Who cares what My Computer says, what does your burning app (Nero) say? If your writing through explorer then you're doing packet writing and you won't get over 650mb with packet writing.

    I fixed my slow speed problem DMA wasn't really on. I turned off that IDE autodetect in the bios a long time ago to save bootup time, instead setting the HDDs in the BIOS. I just turned that autodetect on bootup back on and now it works fine.

    Yup I used the right firmware. I think CD Speed is just buggy about reporting what method it uses. I think either it doesn't like the media or DMA isn't really on, even though everything says it is. Now when the heck are they going to invent crash proof burning technology? Windows couldn't...

    Why does computer randomly restart?

    What you do is take out all extra components and see if the problem still persists. It makes it easier to narrow down then, either the problem is with one of the parts you took out or it's still in there. If it's ok then you just put them back in one by one until the problem appears again.

    I just got a new CD-RW drive and it's a Lite-on. It has Smart Burn which as far as I can tell needs support from the mastering software to be used.
