What type of HDMI splitter do I need for my Xbox?

Yes, I verified long ago HDCP still works with the other TV, and I've tried at least seven different HDMI cables. Other HDCP devices still work fine with my TV, just not this Xbox. That's precisely why I'm asking for advice on splitters, so that I don't buy the wrong one.

What type of HDMI splitter do I need for my Xbox?

Well, unfortunately I don't have a single link in my chain that is HDCP 2.2-compliant...including my Xbox, which is an HDMI v1.2 device and where the problem begins in the first place. And everything I'm reading is that I need to bypass (ignore or strip) HDCP to restore video from my Xbox to my...

What type of HDMI splitter do I need for my Xbox?

I have an Xbox 360 SE that used to work perfectly for HDCP. Unfortunately, I plugged the HDMI cable into a different TV for a couple of hours. When going back to the main TV, HDCP handshake was nuked. As a result, I can no longer watch DVDs, HD-DVDs or HBO Go. I spent weeks searching, and...

    Check your Comcast service

Checked this morning, and there is a thread with a couple of people in my area who were complaining about speed loss over this past month. None of them have dug down to find out what's going on. Spoke with Comcast again this afternoon while they toiled to appease me. Got sent to L3 support, who...

    Check your Comcast service

As everyone knows, Comcast (and cable in general) is having some hard times. I suspect they're trying to cut some corners, in an illicit fashion, and subscribers are paying for it. Background: I have bundled Internet and TV since @Home first became available back in, what...1999? When Tom...

Has your EPG lost the CBS affiliates?

I noticed on my main machine Saturday night that the local affiliate for CBS was no longer listed in my EPG. I can manually add the channel (i.e. 7.1), but it has no data: no station identification, no programming. On Sunday, I found that the CBS affiliate was also missing from my primary HTPC...

Easiest Way to get Component Analog HD out for TV viewing

Which tuner do you have? Or do you know which one you're going to buy? Then let's forget about using XMBC...results for most people range from "major hassle" to "this doesn't work". Win7 should be OK along with PowerDVD. Preferably, your mobo has optical-out, otherwise you need a dedicated sound...

    Is my parts list compatible?

Nope. The CX series is the entry-level CWT units. Being based on the Seasonic S12-II, the Antec unit I recommended earlier is of superior quality, has more wattage on the 12v rail, and is far less expensive at this time.

    Is my parts list compatible?

I shall start with MSI: to steal a scene from Ned Nedelander, MSI are more than just famous, they are IN-famous: https://www.google.com/#q=msi+denied+rebate. It's not like this is some big secret, we've all known about this for years. MSI has had more than its share of issues, just a couple...

Easiest Way to get Component Analog HD out for TV viewing

If I remember correctly, no...you need a converter for most video cards. Although some older videocards, like the ATi AIW or nVidia Personal Cinema card, could do something like you described. But lately, I don't think any videocards can do this and require a converter. Not sure. A better...

    Is my parts list compatible?

With the limited feature set and mediocre reviews at Anandtech and other places, no, it's not a bad case at all...in its price range. The 500R is significantly superior in many ways. You get what you pay for. $90 is a good price for this kind of feature set and quality, but if OP can handle...

    Is my parts list compatible?

A decent 650W power supply on sale with rebate and free shipping usually runs around $60. That would leave $40 for the case. $60 cases suck. I wish I had avoided that mistake. Take a guess what you'll get for $40. A Gold 750 is probably overkill. Drop to 620W for this Seasonic Bronze unit...

Major issue with graphics heavy applications

Everything you bought was of really good, reliable quality except for the mobo. Other users claim this particular mobo has serious issues with USB connectivity or ports are simply dead, RAM slots not working or bent, various problems with onboard audio and the NIC, and MSI chose to use a RAID...

A Win 7 Media Center question

Maxifier will likely be no better than hitting the Windows key. Specifically, once mouse focus is allowed outside the MCE shell, media being played in Media Center will stutter and break sync with wild abandon. I don't recall exactly the issue (it's been about three years since I researched...

    PC/RAM Issues

I'm unfamiliar with UEFI mobos. But that is my first suspect: there may be a setting that isn't correct in the BIOS. Second: your memory isn't fully compatible with this mobo. You might just have to run in single channel, or get different RAM. Which leads me to: the memory-compat issue...

HTPC Build from 4 year old PC

First, the ideal HTPC doesn't boot often...it resumes. SSD is (still) overkill, IMO. My old 80G Raptor resumes my primary HTPC within just a few seconds. In my area, Comcast scrambled Expanded Basic channels three years ago. They started scrambling Limited Basic channels last week (I've so far...

Logitech Z623 crackling sound during loud explosions

Most likely: you've got Windows volume cranked. Drop it to 50%, and control the volume from the speaker controls. Other possibility: poor quality cables. My Z680 came with junk cables, I replaced them years ago with copper HT cables.

    Wireless honeypot & legal implications

All usage on secured and unsecured networks can be monitored and recorded. Unless it's not that person's network, or that person has not been authorized/approved to conduct network monitoring...that would be illegal. Legal implications for you are pretty simple. Someone else uses your network...

PC Power Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W - good or bad? $70

Especially considering the brands you used before, and the subsequent results of using those brands, I certainly would. It may not be a Seasonic, but it's a solid PSU with a great warranty.

    Recent Crashing Problem.

There is a good possibility that you damaged your VRAM, which isn't all that uncommon for people who unlocked their 6950s. If the VRAM isn't damaged, dropping back to stock config settings may not have been enough...if you went with the flash method to unlock, flash the original BIN back on...

Wow...my big ego. Damn, you always make it so hard to resist. Got your suit on, or is it still at the repair shop? If there was a point to have been missed (since none was made), the point is moot. You used bad info from a fugly website.

PC Power Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W - good or bad? $70

A couple of years ago I bought an Antec NEO ECO 520W on sale for $40 USD shipped. It's a Seasonic. PC Power Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W - good or bad? $70

For an OP who didn't even know Seasonic made power supplies for other companies, it was a perfectly logical way to interpret it. That's why I clarified it for him. By the way, the Mk II 750W wasn't made by Sirtec. AFAIK, Sirtec hasn't been involved with manufacturing PSUs for over four years...

PC Power Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W - good or bad? $70

This may sound like four of these five are Seasonic. Keep in mind that all five have sold/currently sell models not made by Seasonic. For example, most current PCP&C units are Seasonic. Most XFX, too. However, the PCP&C unit that you initially asked about is not Seasonic. The other two...

PC Power Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W - good or bad? $70

PCP&C used Seasonic for many years. Then they switched gears... That's a Highpower unit, and it's pretty good. Got a good review at hardwaresecrets. For $70 Canadian, and a seven-year warranty, it looks like a really good deal. For the Mk III, PCP&C went back to using Seasonic.

    Life span of HSFs?

I've had only two heatsink fans die. The first (back in the 90s) was due to a couple of years of dust buildup. The other (two years ago) was due to heat: the wife's case wasn't getting decent airflow, so the fan was running full-speed all the time and burned itself out...it lasted almost two...

    Unisntalling AOL Instant Messanger Aim?

Good idea, but before doing that I would install Revo Uninstaller...then install AIM, then use Revo to uninstall. AIM uninstall has always been buggy, but even worse is that when it does work, it still leaves hundreds of registry strings behind.
