Please let me know what you guys think... any modifications or such. Plan is to use this as a HTPC/Gaming desktop for Windows 7. I plan to probably make my purchase mid-March... so would appreciate it if anyone can suggest some possible changes in anticipation of anything new that will be...

ohh damn, my bad... didnt realize it was VGA input... i just saw VGA and thought you were smoking crack that no lappys had it.

What To Buy? A Gaming Laptop That's Not Too Big?

get the ASUS W3V. It uses hypermemory so if you get more ram your vid card gets more ram. I'm running 2x512mb and my vid card lists 256mb of ram.

14" too big to lug around?

I have the W3V and I would say its ok for portability. I am also a student so I know what you would be going through. I bought a sleeve for it and plan to use that and put it into my Northface backpack. I have to admit though it is a little tight and wouldn't recommend it if you expect to bring...

Does anyone use a laptop as their SOLE machine for home?

Nice pics!! Wow you definently sold me on getting this dock now. I really wanted a setup like that to hook up to my 19" LCD monitor. The only thing i wish was that my 19" lcd monitor had an S-video connection so i could hook it up digitally to my lappy. I dunno how i will like using VGA instead...

I believe he was referring to the 700m that has the integrated graphics. W3V is a 14" widescreen with a dedicated ATI X600 graphics card. Build quality is also much higher and it also has the glossy screen found on the 700m and Sony xbrites. It is also made of carbon fiber and not cheap plastic...

Looking for PC laptop equivalent of Powerbook

ASUS makes some SWEET looking laptops... i hear they used to make the old powerbooks. They have laptop the W1000 series... i think they have a W2 now, but it looks exactly like the powerbook... except its black aluminum. Awesome specs too.... but $$$

Acer laptops any good?

My friend works for a company that tests laptops for problems. He says that Acer sucks... i guess they call the Travelmate series the Troublemaker series. I dunno though, i always thought they looked nice and stuff.
