    There are other systems used overseas, but many or most countries have GSM networks. Most countries do not have CDMA, so you can't use CDMA-only phone if there is no CDMA network. There may be some phones that use both CDMA (in the US) and GSM (abroad), but I am too lazy to check.

    IBM (now Lenovo) has Access Connections, software that allows you to define network profiles (e.g. ethernet-only profile). Check with the laptop manufacturer(s) for similar software.

    The headphone preferences are quite subjective, so YMMV. If possible, try any headphones before buying them. The SR80s have better bass, it's good enough for me. Two things about SR60 and SR80: - some soundcards may not provide sufficient output, although I didn't have problems using SR80...
