Removing WinXP

well, I plan to do many upgrades to it for a co-worker, and my margin is low on the deal. I don't want to get messed up with driver incompatibility, etc. I know the parts I am adding work great for 98. I want to get it upgraded and out the door, and not get called later because something does...

Removing WinXP

I am looking to buy a refurb. PC pre-loaded with WinXP. I am not a fan, so I want to use Win98. Can I just format the PC, or has WinXP done something to HDs making it impossible to remove?

Iomega Atapi ZipCD 8x4x32 in Linux....

Ok, I have the above mentioned ZipCD drive, SCSI emulator IS working.... What mode should I use? I can't seem to find one that works. Running Red Hat 6.2, X-CD-Roast newest version (.98a)

What's a good Linux OS for beginners?

I just repartisioned the hard drive, wiped everything out after backing up...feels good to clean out hte system every year or so.... I put Red Hat 6.2 on, got it working, then obtained SuSE pro 7.0. SuSE pro had an awesome install, but I couldn;t get some things running as well, and seemed slow...

Excel or VBA gurus, help please!

Excel is not the tool - you'll want an Access DB with wither VBA or ASP forms to control data. I wrote an app at my last job that gathered data from oracle tables, and every 5 min would email if certain values were present. I've never delt with report output though...someone else?

redhat 7.2

Half Price Books is awesome for this kinda stuff, see here. They also carry ful boxed sets - I got SuSE 7.0 Professional, with DVD, 6 CDs. and 3 manuals for under $20.

Thnaks Hitman. thanks to the MsN/username tip I am posting this from Linux. Man, its been a long time since I used Navigator... At least in Linux mys system is no longer "hiccupping" and I can surf a little faster....

That it would seem. But I use the correct phone login and password, but dialer conncets then disconnects. I would assume AOL would have similar issues...

Burning the Bridge that "Golden Gates" Built - What more does Linux Need?

What more does linux need for one to forever be able to avoid Windows on a personal computing level? I know for myself I will need windows at home for VB programming, and for the few programs my wife and kids need that are not in linux (ie Quilting programs, some kids educational programs) But...

Great. Actually a friend with a high-speed connection gave me the latest Debian realease earlier. I'll probably just pick a distro I like and upgrade it, If need be. The SuSE was the full 6 CD box set, and red hat was one of those Half Price Books specials, a QUE book with publishers edition...

It can be a pain to go through online documentation though... I'm a newbie to Linux and found that going to the library or half-price books got me software and answers fast and cheap and offline. BTW, the questions you asked are covered in the first chapter of these books, so it is really easy...

I don;t know how well known this is, but if you have a Half-Price books near you you're in luck. ! Store site -look for locations near you The one near me in Dallas had Red Hat 5 box sets for $14, Corel for $20. Other distros there too... Even better, in computer books section they had awesome...
