Just curious but does anyone know where I can get super cheap deal on Windows ME? Since everybody supposedly hates it, does anyone have a full install to give away? Excuse me if I have this in the wrong forum as I think I do. IGNORE THIS as I just put this on the For Sale Forum

Sony Vaio question?

I have a Sony Vaio computer that has an internet address bar in the task bar. How does one get rid of it? So far I havn't had any luck. Im thinking that it got there with a particular program but not sure. Who can feel me in?

modem question?

Its in the last slot on a gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 MOTHERBOARD. The only other pci card is a Creative sound card.

A few questions...

Do you have a spare power supply to try? Does it freeze up at the same point or place? What are you doing when this happens? On the internet, playing a game? Added any software?

modem question?

Just curious but last nite after coming in from work, I cranked up the computer and attempted to get on the interenet when instead of just dialing it up as normal, I kept getting a no dial tone message. I checked the phone, dial tone ok, checked the connections all ok, went to the wifes computer...

HOW BIG A HARDDRIVE CAN......

Thanks for the response. I currently have an older IBM 8.4 gig with XP and SP1. Should I keep this as a boot drive and use the larger drive for storage or would it be better to partition the one larger drive and have a faster drive to do it all?

the Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro handle? This has the 865PE chipset. Its not mentioned in the manual. It does feature SATA which I am not using at the moment.

RF Interference question

Have you tried disconnecting the cathode light you have hooked up? See if that changes anything. RF can be very frustrating to track down. Sounds like something on or near the same frequency of your remote control causing RFI. Also, is the base station and computer on the same circuit...

Building a computer on SAT. From a Computer show, Been out of the LOOP for 3 years!! UPDATE!!!! Help I can choose MOBO??

Problem with 98 Machine not booting

I believe a clean install would be best also but have you tried to do a scanreg /restore. Boot to command prompt only option 6 pressing F8 at start up. At the prompt type: scanreg_/restore with the underscore representing a space. When the dates come up choose a day before it failed. May not be...

Kingston memory

Not sure where I found it but a link off the main page here for Kingston hyper x pc3200 @66.00 dollars. I just used their main page and configurator and found the motherboard and it recommended pc3200 in dimm 3-4-4, whatever that means for 46.00. Thats 256mb. Not sure if that is the value line...

New dialup modem - port conflicts

Have you gone into the bios and checked the com ports there. Whats enabled and whats not? Have you tried removing the modem from device manager and starting over?

As has already been suggested, check the cable to the floppy but have you moved or changed anything with the floppy? Does the light stay on ? Just curious but how old is the cd your trying to use? What operating system are you using?

Noticed the thread for this board after I posted but after reading those threads I wonder if I really want the board or not. I'm not in to overclocking, I don't want to have to do something to it every moment of the day. I just want very stable and quick motherboard. Comments?
