Hi, looking to co-op play Far Cry 6 and other games like Back4Blood with my 10 year old daughter.
She’ll use a 1080p monitor and I‘d like to be able to run the latest games at max graphic settings.
I’ve only built intel boxes in the past. I am not up to speed on latest chips/mb.
Could you...
I took off my OC and ran prime with windows 10 setup to shut off the LCD after 10m of no activity and put the PC to sleep after 30m. Both happened. I guess Prime does not tell w10 not to goto sleep while running.
Hi,
I have my LCD set to go off after 10 minutes of idle and my PC to goto sleep after 30 minutes of idle.
While running prime, my LCD kept trying to goto sleep, so I'd wiggle my mouse to get it to not do that.
After an hour of running prime OK, I left the room to let it keep running (no AVX)...
Hi All,
Been a long time since I built my last PC. Was wondering what the latest stability testing SW was?
Is memtest86 still being used for memory testing?
Is lynx still being used of OC stability?
What GPU test is everyone using?
Thanks!
Not a prank! This is external. I want internal. Can I shuck that one?
Is it 5400? Any advice to save money, even $20 is appreciated, but I only build a PC once every 10 years, so I try to get the best of the best.
Thankfully I can afford to do so. Happy Holidays mate!
Thanks! I'm off to investigate your suggestions! Here's my latest. Cost keeps growing unfortunately, but I only build one every 10 years, so it's ok. Just got a steal on a gaming mouse, lol. Saving $20+ bucks! Woo Hoo!

Man, this place is quiet! When I built my last one, there was so much help! Anyways, maybe this helps someone.
I changed the memory to Corsair since the G.Skill was not on the QVL list.

Hi, looking to refresh my last build which was probably 10 years ago. Trying to come up to speed on everything. Could you please give me feedback on this part list?

Hi, I'm looking for PC3200 64GB Memory for my i9 9900k and msi meg z390 ace MB.
Is it ok to buy 2 pairs instead of 1 quad? The pairs would be identical.
Any recommendations appreciated!
Hi, I've decide to go with the I9-9900K for my processor. I'd like to OC in the future, but not initially. Looking for a MB that is bug-free and reliable. I have read that the Gigabyte Aorus Elite and Pro have issues. Thinking perhaps an
MSI MEG ACE. What would you guys recommend?
<$300...
I may. I keep watching front page for release and review news. I think I am
gonna go dual samsung 960 pro's 512GB and then a sata drive for backups.
Thinking 32 GB ram.
Thanks biostud. I will do that. Best to wait and see I figure. Either get a good
deal on old chipset or go with the shiny and new chipset. I keep these PCs
for a long time, so best to get the latest IMHO.
Thanks for all the help guys! Is there any way to tell from intel's website which
chipset each core needs? For example, this link I can't tell:

Does Kabylake processors need a new wave of motherboards? Or do you
use them with existing Skylake motherboards? Is the only difference between
the i5 and i7 processors the number of threads?
Ok, I'll take a look at the midrange. When I did my last build, you had to
install "intel matrix storage manager". Maybe that was for Raid, can't remember. I also had to install chipset INF drivers. Is any of that required?
Hi guys,
I am getting some clicking on my raid 0 sata velociraptors and want to build a new one before this one dies.
Some details on my current PC:
W7-64
6GB DDR3 ram
i7 920 2.66 oc to 3.7
asus p6t motherboard
thermal right Ultra Extreme 120 RT 1366 fan
bfg gtx280 oc 1gb (had 2, but 1 died)...
Ok, 4.0GHz is a no go with 200 BCLK and auto ratio OR 210 BCLK 19x ratio. I really dont think it's worth it to see if 3.9GHz is good when 3.8GHz is so stable. I am going to conentrate of reducing voltages as much as possible and tweaking DRAM. THEN, I can enjoy this thing! :)
Mmmmm crysis.
Going to try 4.0 Ghz no turbo, then 3.9 GHz no turbo. I have a felling I will be at 3.8 GHz for 24/7 use which I couldn't be happier with.
If 3.8, I will see if I can drop the uncore voltage and stay stable. Any point in OCing memory RAM in x58?
System:

New build... When running the experience factor thing in vista x64, at the very
beginning I hear what sounds like a car trying to start. It's weird. I think it
might be one of my sli cards or a hard drive.
I have only heard it running that windows experience. Bad gtx280?
Thanks!
