You were right, it was the video card, got a Geforce 7800GT, problem all gone. Thanks for the tip.

Tried and checked all those and just updated the latest video drivers still no fix. Just tried monitor from primary computer, same. Per previous suggeston i am going to borrow a friends new video card tomorrow and see if that may be the problem. Appreciate all the ideas.

Thanks, will give it a try. Flashed bios to latest ver but that didn't solve it either. Have any suggestions on video card, currently is SB live Platinum about 4-5 years old. Have 3.2 P4 & 2gb Corsair ready to upgrade, but want system stable first. Appreciate any help/ideas.

I vacuum it out about once a month and there 2- 120mm and 4- 80mm fans. No heat issues, temps are about 48c idle and with multiple programs running never got over 60c

Help. System works ok for awhile then suddenly the white screen with black lines. Restart, boots ok and all is well for awhile then it happens again. Have reformatted and partitioned the HDD, only have WinXP home SP1 and Office XP installed, same condion. Anybody can tell what problem is...

Which Bios for ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe

My apologies for stupid. The BIOS i noted is for SATA which is not turned on. The AMI BIOS that this board has is 1001.004. I would think then that the ver 1002 would be the right one, but i don't know for sure. Would appreciate a response from someone who has more than my limited knowledge...

p4p800e deluxe: can't get the ethernet to work

Same board, same issue. Thanks, solved my problem. Had a week of back and forth try this stuff with ASUS to no avail. Just tweaked the springs and no problem.

P4 heatsink

I'm uprading the fan/heatsink on my 1.6A P4. the stock heatsink has that almost 1" square black thermal sheet on it. I'm going to use ArcticSilver3. Does it actually need to cover the whole surface of the CPU or just the less than 1/4" core area. Also is there any danger in getting thermal paste...

Heatsink install on P4

Using plactic scrapper to remove black crap from Intel P4 Heatsink. Am replacing with Arctic Silver#3. Should i use damp soft cloth(or)to clean surface? Also what is the best method to apply evenly and how much. Any special trick to the best way to apply? It is in a syringe.

New sys- Win2k or XP

Many thanks for all the input, looks like i can't lose either way. I got a pretty good deal on win2k and all the service packs so i think i'll go that way for now, can maybe try XP later. Everything shipped yesterday, so with any luck i should be able to fire this puppy up this weekend. :)

How good is the Sony G400?

I have had mine for about 9 months, luv it. You don't even notice the lines once you get used to it. Only paid $525 incl.tax. Found it by accident when Office Depot was closing out their Sony monitors.

The mfg spec say hardware implemented anti-aliasing multi-sampling techqniques. I'm a dummy and confused. What exactly does anti-aliasing do and what are the real world visible benefits? What difference would one actually see between card with and one without? :confused:
