So, is my ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe a dead board... no post AARRGGHH!!

Try throwing the old board back in to rule out the possibility of something else having gotten jacked up while installing the new one. If it's still a problem with the new mobo, then do the usual trouble shooting.... Run it with bare minimum like memory and video. If it's still not showing...

Internet Help

If there's no existing connection at the house. Your options are to: 1) Sign up for wireless internet through you cell phone provider. 2) Get a dial up account and plug into the wall. 3) Hope that grandma has some neighbors willing to let you use their wireless connections.

My new computer arrived !! now...what are all this cables !!

he's saying that when you install the mobo, make sure you use the included metal risers to lift it off of the case. if the back of the mobo is touching the case it'll short (but i like to call it FRY) your motherboard and possibly other componenets.

Converting to Cable internet. What do I need

I didn't know that DSL let you run 2 off of the same modem, that's cool. In order to share one modem w/ 2 computers on cable you're going to need a router. The modem would plug into the router, then you just run ethernet from the router to each computer. Or you can get a Wireless router...

Can't access MP3 player in WinXP

I don't now what Force ASPI is but what problem is it giving you when you just point it to the drivers for your MP3 player? also, what kind of mp3 player are you trying to use?

More Shutting Down Problems

So you're saying that it "restarts" when you try to "shut down" ? I don' t see how that could be video card related. If anything it's probably your motherboard or XP going wonky. Has it been an ongoing thing or did it start happening recently ?

Dual Channel or not?

You're right about the extra stick taking it out of dual-channel. There would be a speed hit but i don't know how much. As to which is better it really depends on what you're doing. if it's just kicking around in windows than more is better. For game performance, dual channel w/ 1 gb may...

Are there any cases similar to the MSI MEGA 651?

Is THIS what you're talking about ? If it is then it doesn't even look like MSI sells the case seperately, it's just a barbones system. Pretty cool case though, looks like a stereo.

Help me find a NICE case - wife is picky

Seconding the Kingwin 424 case, i have a similar one from Kingwin. It looks sturdy and cool, and it's not obscene like the Thermaltake's. Just my opinion though. I'm also seconding the suggestion to sit the little lady down in front of NewEgg and have her browse through. So i'm giving 2...

Should a tower fan blow in our blow out?

Good rule to go by is that fans on the front should pull air in so it can pass over the components, then have the rear fans pushing the air out. Top and side fans can go either way. I prefer to have more air being pushed out than in but there's nothing solid to support that.

what's Dye sublimation thermal transfer printer?

Artifacting

Artifacting is what happens when the video card becomes unstable, usually because it gets too hot. It's easy to spot when playing games or moving between windows because a spot on the screen gets blurry or slow. Basically you'll know it when you see it. And when you see it, the card's not...

If it's not charging any more and just won't turn on then you got the infamous "dead ipod battery". If it turns on but won't do anything, like it's locked up, then there are formatting utilities to fix it. also...."buttery", haha

strange frame rate problem

oh, well i'm assuming that the 2 512 sticks are the pc3200 stuff. I'd actually recommend trying to pull the 2 256's and see what effect that has. If it doesn't clear it up than you'd have to either replace the 2 256's with another 2 512's or just scrap what you have and get 2 nice 1gig...

strange frame rate problem

It sounds to me like it's totally a problem w/ the memory speeds. Two things, it's not running at PC3200, that odd stick is downclocking everything to PC2700. Also they're not paired up so it's not Dual-Channel. The best thing to do would be to sell/trade/whatever the odd 512MB PC2700...

Need help... Video Card does not power up properly! Please Help!

Sounds like a problem w/ the Vid Card not getting enough juice. Make sure of a couple of things, does the mobo need/have the extra power cable plugged in? Or does the vid card require a seperate plug from the PSU? Personally i had a problem similar where my old Geforce4ti4400 wasn't...

I don't have any personal experience w/ them but you're right they do look cool. Also, there's like 50+ reviews from peeps on that NewEgg site, there's usually some good info hidden in those things.

Video card got permanently slowed by Tweak XP?

i've never used the "tweak xp" program but the only things it can change are your core or memory clock speeds on the card. You can use ati tool to set them back to default i believe.

Logitech Wireless Mouse / Microsoft Wireless Keyboard combo?

nah, you won't have any problems. I do the opposite.....logitech keyboard w/ microsoft mouse, both wireless. They both make you sync the device w/ the receiver.

Budget Build for a Friend: Looks Good?

looks decent, only changes I would possilbe make are: 1.) opting for an NForce 4 Ultra motherboard, just from my personal good experiences w/ the nforce chipset compared to VIA 2.) Upping the vid card to an nviida 6600gt for a little more fps power if he ever gets into it

Well we found the problem. Like "reliable data" said, your mobo is screwed directly into the mounting plate which is shorting your mobo. The standoff screws usually come w/ the case. YOu need to get your hands on some and screw them into the tiny holes on the mounting plate then screw your...
