    INTEL a warning would have been a good idea...

    this happened to me too when i went to put my thermaltake orb on, stupid thing yanked out the cpu and in the process bent a few pins, so i had to very gently bend the pins back to straight just to get the cpu back in the socket

    I was wondering if testing a 1.8A GHz P4 in this system would damage anything.....the 1.8A may be dead, but i'm not completely sure, it was in a mobo that got shorted out. so if i test will it damage anything?

    P4 Temp Question

    i got the same prob, i got a 2.26B that runs at the same temps, not OCed, i got a thermaltake dragon orb HSF using AS3, i have a ASUS P4S533, and it ran at 40C with stock HSF and 49C at full load, so i only got 2 degrees diff on full load, it should be much cooler

    p4 temps

    I put in a 2.26Ghz P4 with Thermaltake Dragon Orb heatsink and artic silver 3, 40 degrees idle, 49 degrees full load i think thats a bit high, i haven't been through the "break in" period, but with the stock HSF full load temp was 47 degrees any opinions?

    P4 1.6 and ASUS P4B266-C \ Did I screw up?

    The 512KB L2 Cache makes a big difference, when a Intel Pentium comes with 512KB L2 that means its a "Northwood" core processor, meaning its a .13µ (130nm) which runs cooler (which I believe you wanted) and uses less voltage. Also the larger cache improves performance by around 7.5% average.
