I am evaluating a fresh copy of SynchBackSE v7 on my new Win10 machine. I have been happily using v6 for backing up data to external drives under previous versions of Windows. I am not noticing any major differences with v7. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether or not it is worth spending...
Discovered my friend is renting an SBV5220 for $10/month from Comcast and would like to purchase a replacement. Can anyone recommend a model that is as fast and future proof as possible?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Hey thanks. Yeah, there is a wired LAN here with a switch...still have the WNDR 3700, I will give it a try with that. Sounds simple. Let's see if it works.
Wifi is not covering entire large house with Netgear WNDR 3300 wireless router. Tried setting up a WNDR 3700 as a repeater bridge but had various problems getting that to work. The house has wired LAN with ethernet connections throughout. What would be the most simple and cost effective solution...
Thanks for the replies. I did make the restore disks right out of the box. I have backed up the SwSetup folder (found at root of C partition) uninstalled everything I could find, run CCLeaner, stopped background start ups with AutoRuns and defragged. I am thinking I will make an image of what is...
I am setting up an HP G72-261US laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and just wanted to be sure there is nothing worth keeping before I started uninstalling everything. I have created the restore disks with HP Tools but was planning to use Acronis True Image from now on, so was...
Thanks for the input.. I should have mentioned that I had that processor already, not that I was considering purchasing it... Alas, it has found a new home altogether in an old S1 machine after all. Thanks again to everyone who posted!
It is big enough for Windows 7 x64 and my programs. I maintain an imaging schedule and have disabled creation of restore points. Even with hibernation enabled, I have enough room.
Thanks for all of the responses. I realize you move the page file the same way you always have, the interface has been the same at least since Win2k. I also realize that moving the pagefile off of the system drive is pointless when it resides on an SSD. For clarity's sake I should have mentioned...
Thank you for the replies.
fffblackmage:
1) It is my understanding that it is possible to use an S1G1 CPU in an S1G2 socket but not an S1G2 CPU with an S1G1 socket.
2) Yes.

I have an extra AMD-Turion 64 X2 Mobile technology TL-64. Should I replace the AMD-Athlon 64 X2 QL-60 in my Acer Aspire AS4530-5627 notebook with it? I do not generally run on battery for long periods and am interested in the best possible performance.
TIA for the advice.
SunnyD: I assume that Newegg uses their RMA dept. as the return address on shipping labels so that returns are sent there when customers change their minds and refuse deliveries.
I have also used a load of Samsung ODD's, including eight SH-S223C's I got on a similar deal several month's ago. I...
EDIT: I have discovered that the TL64 does, indeed, work with the HP Pavillion dv6119US.
Does anyone happen to know if an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL64 2.2GHz CPU would be supported by an HP Pavillion dv6119US? It came with a TL50. I have updated to the latest BIOS version F.42, released on...
Is there any major downside to going with the 100MB partition if it is already there and I do not feel like starting over? Also, I want to re-set up dual booting with WinXP and it is my understanding that "the use of a separate Boot/Recovery partition is the best possible practice if you are...
Annoyingly, Win7 HP x64 is not letting me move the page file to a dedicated partition I created for it at the head of my storage HDD. When I try to set the file to the new location and eliminate the default page file on my SSD's boot partition, I get a Windows error message saying there was a...
Thanks to all for the responses. Mike: I do see your point, "volatile in nature" is not what I should have said. I guess the point is that I need to start trusting SSDs at least as much as I do hard drives. That said, I do back-up and image regularly (I do not trust hard drives either). Although...
Thanks for the response. It definitely would not have been enough space with Vista x64 but I have an inkling I will just make it with Win7 x64. I do not want to disable hibernation support but if I did, I am reasonably certain that I would be more than fine with 40GB.
So for clarity's sake...
I have installed Win 7 Ultimate x64 onto a 40GB SSD. I usually move user profiles and program files to dedicated partitions for each in order to protect them in the event I need to restore Windows from an image. With only 40GB to work with, I am thinking I would not have enough room to create my...
Thanks so much Chapbass! While I was away I kept searching for solutions and figured out that it was the Ricoh flash media reader that was begging for drivers. It was working just fine without them, mind you, but once I installed the the Ricoh Vista x64 and x86 drivers I found on Dell's site...
Thanks Chapbass:
1) There are no details identified
2) It only says dv6000. The part number is RG279UA#ABA
Also, I should mention that there are no peripherals that are not working, as far as I can tell thus far.
Thanks again for the help, Chapbass.
