controlling which program icons appear on the desktop win xp home

I need to set up a laptop for my inlaws On the desktop for one of the user accts: There should just be a couple of game icons and firefox, displayed , or the user will get confused. How do I set this up? I tried to delete some programs going to documents and settings, all users, and...

thanks, I didnt think about booting into safe mode (probably because the computer never boots up to the safe mode since installing Windows 2000. it has been very stable unlike 95/98. problem appears to be solved, although I don't know why I got that message about backweb.dll

when I click on ADD/remove programs nothing happens. when I click on internet explorer nothing happens when I click on most anything in the control panel nothing happens

2.9¢/min long distance - OneSuite.com - good for in-state, too!

I have been using Onesuite for a year, have my parents on a separate pin. only service that will beat it, is to use your free cellular minutes (if you have a cell phone)
