I want to assign a desktop shortcut to a keyboard shortcut. So I could close a program (ALT+F4) by clicking on my taskbar, minimise (WIN+M) a program, maximise a program (SHIFT+WIN+M) etc, etc.
It'd be great to learn how to do it.
Is it possible to create keyboard shortcut on the desktop?
For example, could I create a standard Windows shortcut that activates a certain key combination (such as ALT+F4)?
Would it be possible to assign the Windows key to a shortcut aswell?
Could I do this with a .bat file or a script?
Even when auto-hiding the Windows taskbar, there is a small strip of grey along the bottom of the screen. How can I get rid of that strip? I still want to use the taskbar, I just don't want it showing until I need it.
I am using a program called 'Taskbar Activate' which kills that grey strip...
I've never had 8MB of space left over, as some of you suggest this 'alway' happens, this clearly isn't the case.
Can you extend the current partition into the space without creating an extra partition? When I had this problem, I simply made the partition bigger to fill the gap.
This is really strange. I was going to reformat and start again for the above reasons and some others. First I decided to try some other firewalls out, but to no avail. I reghosted my day old image to do some work before the format, and all the sites work! So does the UD Cancer program which...
Well, it was working previously. I am using Norton as neither ZoneAlarm 3, Sygate, or Zone Alarm 2.6 work sufficiently well for some reason or other. Norton was working perfectly last week. Hmmm....I hate it when computers go wrong for no reason!
Or is my PC screwed up?
For some reason I haven't been able to access either the United Devices Cancer Research forums, or the Sharky Extreme Hardware site for about a week. These servers haven't gone down before, is it just my PC?
I am running Windows XP (and firewall), and Norton Firewall...
I use PowerQuest DriveImage 2002. I schedule a virus scan with Norton, then a defrag, than a backup. It happens every night while I sleep. DriveImage boots into DOS, does it's stuff, then reboots.
There's no performance difference.
With two sticks you have a vital backup if one goes bad, but with one you have greater upgrade potential.
I would suggest to wait until the 512MB stick is available, or buy it from somewhere else.
I use baby wipes to clean my LCD and CRTs. Then, I wipe off the soap with toilet paper. Cheap, easy and works every time.
Klear Screen is a screen cleaner right?
Try www.ebuyer.com
I've had major problems with returning faulty goods to dabs, but none at all with ebuyer.
Komplett don't accept debit cards, but their prices are very low.
Buying a new mouse can't be justified for a month of use. I don't really have enough desk space or inclination to move a mouse all over the place either unfortunately.
The questions in my post are indicated by question marks!
OK, I'll be more concise:
What is the best speech rocognition...
Well, it's mid 2002 and I still can't say to my computer "Open the pod bay doors HAL" and expect any sort of useful response. A bit like the film...
I don't have a microphone, or voice recognition software, but I still wonder, with my computer how well would my computer understand voice...
I had the same problem with the CD supplied drivers. Once I upgraded to the 4161 drivers (then the newer 4161 as there was a bug in the first ones apparently) the problem seems to have gone. The Santa Cruz control panel says the 4161 are actually 4158, and the writing is screwed up on the...
In the new Scheduled Task window, next to 'Run', type:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\defrag.exe c: -f
That will do it.
You need to have your admin password set up though.
You want more foreign shops? Just give it time, the rest of the world is itching to return the favour of the US spreading McDonalds across the world like the common cold. :)
1 stick doesn't perform better than 2. It does offer the possibility of greater expansion though. With 2 sticks you also have a backup in case one goes bad.
If you overclock, you will only get the performance of the slowest stick if you use 2, however, that is no different from having a single...
I owned an NEC 1550M and it had two dead pixes and one lit pixel. I rung up NEC and they said it had to have 5 defects to be considered defective enough and they wouldn't replace it. That basically means their 3 year warranty is worthless.
Good thing UK law states that I can return mail order...
Well, I got £400 for my birthday this year, and the only thing about my system I wasn't happy about was my monitor. I have to sit in front of it for a long time (especially during uni), so I bought an LCD screen. It cost alot, but was very worth it
If you game, don't buy the Philips. A response time with 13ms rise, 27ms fall adds up to 40ms. That is slow. Aim for a response time under 30ms, preferably 25ms.
I haven't seen any information that proves without doubt that copying a piece of software for personal use can be classed as stealing. The EULA comes into it, when even if one refuses to accept the license agreement, one still can't return the opened and used software (running the CD is classed...
But here's the rub. The EULA which outlines the copyright and the fact that one is 'licensed' the software and doesn't own it, is only accessible after the software is bought, unpackaged and run. It is therefore invalid, and people have gone to court over it. Not to mention that stores as a...
I didn't go to 'high school' and never will as I don't live in the US. US law does not back up your statements. US law (including State law) is hauling Microsofts arse into court for illegal monopolistic practises.
Microsofts EULA is automatically invalidated anyway as in order to read it, one...
