1280x1024 vs 1280x960

1280x1024 is actually LESS wide than 1024x768 or any other 4:3 resolution for that matter (its 5:4 i think). Widescreen 16:9 would have been 1280x720. So Newegg are most deffinately wrong if they consider 1290x1024 widescreen!

FEAR and Quake 4 kills my rig

You should easily be able to play Quake 4 maxed out with that setup, i play it at 1920x1200 on mine on very high (ive never bothered with the useless Ultra Mode). Fear is a lot more demanding on the CPU. You'll probably be able to max out the graphics setting, but cut back on the physics so...

What a joke, ATI and Nvida expect us to buy separate PSUs for G80 and R600

I agree with this too. One more plug on the outside of my case wont matter, but ive got enough heat (and noise...) inside my case anyway. Didnt the Voodoo 5 cards have external power supplies?

bfg physics accelerator

At the moment it mostly looks to be extra eye candy, but i do think the card has got potential to really change the way we interact with objects in games.... its just a matter of how long it takes for those big changes to really happen.

DVI-to-HMDI or VGA

It will only get downscaled (or most likely, not displayed at all) if the content on the PC is protected by HDCP. So unless your viewing anything protected on your PC, then your TV will have no problem dispaying it at the correct resolution.

Another 2405 user gets blurred text

Are you running at the native resolution? (1920X1200) if not then what would explain the fuzzy text. You really need to be able to output at that res to get a crisp image. If you have no problems at the same resolution on another machine, then it indicates a problem with the machine, and not...

Well of course its all subjective, my case fans, HD fans and CPU fan drown out the VF900 fan anyway, even though my case is very quiet when theyre turned down. Its certainly a lot quieter than the leaf blower that is the stock fan :).

Im using it on mine and its great. Cooler than stock and silent at 100%. I didnt like the look of the X2 because of where the hot air got expelled, while my zalman blows it straight at an extractor fan above the card.

Transfering VHS tapes to Computer and then to DVD

Use something like Ulead Video Studio it can convert any video source to a DVD very easily. Pinnacle Studio will do the job too. Both are pretty similar.

If a GF 2 MX PCI 32M has 4 memory chips, what bus width does it have?

A GF2 MX is deffinately faster than a Voodoo2. The V2 was contending with the original TNT, so the GF2 is 3 generations newer than that V2.

X-fi - Digital out and line-in at the same time?

Crossfire?? What type of video card? CF edition only?

Nope. They both need to be the same series, and also one has to be a Crossfire Master card. So you would need an X850 + X850 Crossfire Master Card

for a X1800XL are these temps okay and what cooler would you recomend?

Those temps are fairly normal, my 1900XTX could manage 87 on full load on the stock cooler. I use a VF900 on my X1900XTX, and its cooled it a few degrees (Load is about 78), but more importantly, its very very quiet now, no more hovercraft moments. Id say go for the VF900 or the Accelero...

Nintendo Wii Talk.

I read somewhere that the Wii would have graphics ability slightly better than the Gamecube, but for the games that Nintendo make (cartoony games anyway) i think that'll be fine. And i cant wait to see how Mario Kart works with the Wii controller :)

POLL : what's the best aftermarket cooler for the x1900xtx?

Contrary to bad reports about the VF900, ive got one and it works a treat. Temps are at least 10-15 degrees cooler than stock, and with the fan on full its dead quiet. I didnt buy the Accelero as it was too tall to fit below the PCI extractor on my Lian-Li case, but the VF900 in conjunction...

Sapphire X1800XT 512 CCC problems

You need to install CCC in order to change any of the rendering settings on the card, that arent controlled in game. Such as forcing AA or AF. Theres a lot of other options in there too. I dont find it much of a problem myself, i rarely open it as io can switch profiles from my taskbar.

mobo acting up

I had that problem on a ECS Intel BX board (with a P2-450). It ran the post, but went to a black screen and didnt say "loading windows 98". I switched the hard drive for another one and it worked fine then. To this day the HD that wouldnt boot still works fine in my main PC, the odd thing...

You could try any standard graphics card with Matrox's new "TripleHead2Go". Lets you connect 3 monitors to one vga output. All the monitors have to run at 1280x1024 or lower though.

Xbox 360: Project Gotham Racing 3, 1024x600p and framebuffers

I did read somewhere that the original 360 dev boxes had X800 cards in them, and there was something about the AA modes on them that wasnt compatible with the actual 360's graphics card. Hence why none of the launch games had AA. Now the dev kits have updated cards, and the newer games now...

If im correct the X1600 supports extra features such as HDR. However the card would probably have difficulty keeping up with new games with HDR turned on.

x1800xt cooling or zalman

The V700 isnt really designed for the 1800xt, the VF900 has been designed for both the 1800 and 1900 cards. I think you'll be better off sticking to the stock heatsink in that case. Ive just ordered a VF900 for my X1900 so ill report back on how well it works in a few days.

My new x1800xt is only running 594/693 whats wrong??

No thats fine, the 747 will be doubled to give you the full (or near enough) 1500. Your card is performing perfectly :) I do wish ATI would make it slightly more obvious though as quite a few people have been caught out with this.
