I bought a PC-Tel modem mini and I can't get it to work its a 56k. Tried to get control panel under modem to find it but it won't. I have Linux 8.0 also, Linux finds it but it won't work either. Where is the best place to find drivers.
Remember to use a anti-static wrist band for the CPU. And your motherboard should be jumperless, if it has any voltage jumpers or any others "MAKE SURE YOU SET THESE RIGHT". If you don't you could hurt the CPU. Otherwise everything else should be rather easy. Just take your time and I am sure...
DrVos thanks for sticking up for me you sound like you know the difference also. If he wants to put both cd-roms together let him. I can guarantee him he would be seperating the cd-roms pretty quick.
Yes it will slow your hard drive down a little but you will hardly notice it. You can not put both cd-roms on one channel. You could by a add on card for the 52x cd-rom and leave your hard drive by itself. And have your cd burner on the secondary master.
It's easy make your hard drive primary master and your regular cd-rom primary slave, then put your CD-RW on secondary master. CD-roms will not work well on the same channel. Hope this will help if you still have questions e-mail me.
I have outlook express 6.0 soomething installed on my system. Every time I shut down the computer and start it back up I lose my server settings. I have checked everything and can't figure out why it won't keep the server settings. Anybody else had this problem?

I agree Western Digital builds a good drive. I also like Maxtor drives I have a 20.4 gb 7200 rpm and it flys. I guess everyone knows the faster rpm rules. :D
I would not recomend not running a fan on the heat sink I have a volcano fan and it is very quiet on my Celeron 700 Mhz. Or you can look at it this way heat is a computers worst nightmare, and if you don't use a CPU fan the processor just won't last as long as it could.
I can tell you from experience, it is the Creative Labs hardware. I bought my first Creative with Nero burning software. The Creative CD-Rom was a 8x4x32 and it lasted only about 6 months. And I did not use it very much. Creative sent me a replacement drive and it lasted 3 or 4 months. It...
I build systems for people in my area on the side and friends at work, because I love doing it. Where can I find the best prices and not get charged a arm and a leg for shipping. Also I just checked with Newegg and they will not ship until they get there money. I do not use credit cards, I pay...
You are exactly right I just got a HP LaserJet III working and I am thinking about tossing my Epson ink jet out the window, HA HA. A friend of mine at work looks around business for computer parts they throw out that only have minor things wrong. He gave me a HP Laserjet III that worked but...
The CD-rom is probaly to new for the old system, try checking the BIOS settings first. And make sure it is on the number two secondary channel. CD-Roms slow down hard drives if they are put on the primary channel.
As far as CPU's go did anyone have trouble out of the AMD k6- 233 Mhz or K6-II 400. I tried the k6-233 Mhz with a Tyan and a FIC motherboard and always had terrible results, system lock ups, blue screens and everything else that could lock the system up. I know I had all the jumper settings...
I had a lot of trouble out of two different K6-2 Tyan and FIC motherboards. The operating system kept getting the blue screen of death with 95 & 98. One other board I had no problems with were PC chip motherboards. They are not to powerful motherboards but do work good for me when I tried them...
256 is enough but if you can afford 512 go with it. Your video card memory is the most important for playing games. I am running only 196 mb and whish I had more. My games play great with my Voodo 3 video card.
