    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

Hmm....Is this due to slightly looser default timings? If so, would it be possible to compensate for this small performance loss by running a slightly higher FSB without compromising stability?

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

I'll raise my hand as well. Running an HX520 without any issues so far. I think that even though there appear to be a lot of people that have problems with this combo, there are even more that don't have any issues. Nevertheless, I hope Abit and Corsair figure out what is going on soon for...

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

No problems with the memory. My only issue with the build was a strange intermittent boot issue, where XP would occasionally hang right at the beginning of the the loading screen where you could just barely see the windows logo. After comparing my settings to the optimized defaults, I...

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

I haven't tried to push it yet beyond 9x333. For now, I'm happy with 9x333 as a nice, conservative 24x7 overclock.

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

I can confirm that #3 is stable (at least for me). To me, #3 makes sense for a 9x333 overclock because: a) timings are still pretty good b) 1:1 ratio (no real world performance difference at 1:1.20) c) Voltage is still pretty low Btw, #2 was also 100% stable for me (since that is spec...

So is there actually a benefit of using a higher than 1:1 ratio?

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

I have question about memory timings/voltage/speed. The Crucial Ballistix are rated at 4-4-4-12 with 2.2v at 800 Mhz. If I have the Q6600 at 9x333 and maintain 1:1 ratio, the RAM is running at ~667 MHz. Would it make any sense run the RAM with the same timings but at a lower voltage since...

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

I carefully compared my BIOS settings to the Optimized Defaults (I had everything written down for reference). The only difference was that I had the IDE controller disabled as I don't have any IDE devices. Just as a test, I enabled the IDE controller. Here's the weird part...the intermittant...

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

I have Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 and they boot out of the box 1.8v. (5-5-5-15 i believe).

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

Thanks SerpentRoyal. My memory (Crucial Ballistix) is running at spec - 4-4-4-12 @2.2v, but at 667 MHz (1:1). Memtest86+ (including test #5) passes. At first I was exciting since I thought I was stable at stock VCore, but apparantly that is not the case :(. Here's a little more info on what...

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

I can run my q6600 at 9x333 at stock Vcore (Prime 95 small FFT) for 24+ hours without any errors, but unless I raise my Vcore a few notches, windows freezes about half the time on the XP splash screen while booting. Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

    Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

I'm looking at the IP35-E/Q6600 and some Crucial Ballistix 6400 which are spec'd for 4-4-4-12 @2.2v. I know these are supposed to be good sticks, but I'm still concerened that they need 2.2v to run at the specified timings. Is there any downside to running ram at such a high voltage? When...

    Can I run a 9800 PRO without a Fan in 2D (underclocked)?

Thanks for all the input, guys. Much appreciated. FWIW, I used to ATI Tool to clock the core down from 380MHz to 50MHz. After about the 60 mins in windows, the HSF is barely warm to the touch. In any case, I will follow your advice and will rig up some temporary active cooling. Thanks...

    Can I run a 9800 PRO without a Fan in 2D (underclocked)?

The fan on my 9800 PRO went caput. If I underclock the heck out of it, is it ok to run the card in windows without the fan for a few days until my replacement card arrives? Thanks!

Warranty on Seagate Drives from Dell.com

I'm not replacing a drive in a Dell system, nor do I want to buy a Dell. I'm just trying to buy a hard drive! :) I was just curious why Dell says the manufacturers warranty doesn't apply to the Seagate drive.

Warranty on Seagate Drives from Dell.com

I was looking at the SEAGATE 160GB Barracuda 7200.7 Internal EIDE drive (ST3160023A) on Dell.com. The warranty info was not listed anywhere, so I gave them a call. The rep told me that the drive has a 1-year warranty through Dell, but no Seagate manufacturer's warranty. I undestand that it's...

    Computer Can't take the COLD?

I checked the specs for the Antec True 430 PSU. The manual states that the operating temp for the unit is 10C - 50C. 10C is about 50F, so considering that my room thermometer read about 57F and the PSU was right by the window, it is very likely it would have received a good burst of outdoor...

    Computer Can't take the COLD?

There very well could have been condensation...the side of the case by the CPU felt like I just pulled it out of the fridge. So could condensation cause a shutdown? Btw, I can reproduce the "thermal event shutdown" message in the BIOS. If I turn the system off by flipping the switch on the PSU...

    Computer Can't take the COLD?

This is really weird! I wonder if there is any explanation for this before I start ripping things out/RMAing. Built a new system and validated setup by running 24 hour loop of 3DMark 2001 and 24 hours of Prime95. System was 100% stable. After 24 hours, CPU was 54C (idle is 30C), case ambient...

Speaker Mix and Match for 4.1 Surround?

I currently have a 2.1 speaker setup, the Altec-Lansing ACS-295's (20W sub, 7W per satellites). I also have some 2-piece powered Altec speakers (8W per) that I have just sitting around. My question is... can I plug the extra 2-piece speakers into the rear speaker out of my soundcard and get...

    Power Supply Voltage Alerts

Unfortunately, I don't know exactly how much the +3.3V rail deviated, but the Intel Active Monitor alarm triggering threshholds are +2.3V for the low end and +4.3 for the high end on the +3.3V rail. Normally, the value is stable at 3.266. I'll give motherboard monitor a try as well. Thanks...

    Power Supply Voltage Alerts

Every 3-4 weeks, I get an alert on my system that my +3.3 V rail has gone outside of its recommended range. Connect Case Fan to Motherboard Header or Power Supply

Are there any disadvantages to connecting a front intake fan to the variable speed motherboard fan header? The MB documentation states that the fan will turn on and run at 70% when the temperature sensor reaches 36C/96.8F and will run at 100% at 46C/114F. It will turn off when the temperature...
