    Wierd thing the brightness thing only effected KDE. I went into Gnome and everything was fine... As for the sound, i tried alsamixer and there was no bass or treble setting. Any other ideaS?

    The room is hot, but it runs open case.. and according to teh syslog, the last thign happened at ~7:45 AM, which is actually pretty cool. Plus the server is never at heavy load as barely anyoen comes to teh sites or does anything..

    After about two weeks of uptime, my server just.. dies! I check in my /var/log/syslog, all i get is my cron job which runs every 5 minutes, then bam until i hit the power button.     Distro? Run init tells linux to run at this level. 3 is to load into console. 5 is to load into gui. 6 is to shutdown. Its like saying im gonna give you this number, and your gonna do this if the number equals whatever. I forgot what 1, 2, and 4 do but anyway thats the jist of it.

    Static ip behind dhcp?

    find -name "ifconfig*" -print I tried that nothing outputed. Mandrake uses a script called dhcpd.exe (don't ask), which gets your ip and all. I did a man of it, and nothing in their would let you get an ip. Any ideas? thx

    .10? You mean 192.168.1.10... so ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.11 255.255.255.0? I just checked out man ifconfig, it says how to put the ip in, but nothing about static.. .and mandrake overwrites it with dhcp i think on startup.

    Hey guys, im using PureFTPD 1.0.12 on mandrake. Whenever i do ftp localhost, it works fine. But when i do ftp theaddress, and try to ls.. it just times out. When i use a windows client like ws_ftp, it works fine. Im using virtual hosts btw. Any ideas watsup? Or a good FTP server?

    Anyone gotten their Audigy working in RedHat?

    I got mine to work under Redhat from the drivers emuk101 off of sourceforge.org. Problem is u gotta recompile the kernel, at least I did.. Mandrake has native Audigy support.

    I'm not sure, but I remember that during setup it says like push f1 if you have raid or something. You might want to chekc that out. This is before you can do the license agreement and all. It is like the minute u get that lovley blue screen.
