Hi there all. Haven't been around for years but I have a question...
I need four channels of hardware accelerated video (OpenGL) from one PC. My idea is to use two nVidia dual head graphics cards. Does anyone know if both channels of a newer dual head nVidia card can be hardware accelerated...
I can not get WinNT4 to run on the following machine:
VP6
dual 933 P3 (not overclocked)
1GB ram (4x256 dimms)
4GB WD IDE drive (on primary master)
IDE CDRom
GeForce2 MX
(that's all that I have in the machine)
I can get it installed but soon after (within three minutes) the OS boots it locks up...
A tip: Win2K really likes the two CPUs to have matching steppings. If you use different stepping CPUs Win2K will write all kinds of warnings to the log. Also, remember that not all Intel CPUs are certified for dual operation. Before you get the second CPU you might want to check out the S-spec...
I installed Win2K on a VP6 with two 700e's with no problem at all. I have no idea why people are telling you to install with one CPU then put the second one in and update the OS. That's a real pain in the ass. Do you have the drive you're trying to boot Win2K off of on the ATA100 controller? If...
If you're looking for trough put, the Atlas V beats the Atlas 10K. The Atlas 10K access times are a bit faster at 5.3ms vs. 6.0ms for the Atlas v. Overall I think the Atlas V is a very good "starter" SCSI drive. At 7200rpm's you won't find a faster drive.
No, I mean I have a brand new Atlas V. If you check the specs of the Atlas V vs. the Atlas 10K (which I use in my system) you will find that the drives are close in performance. Surprising considering the Atlas V only spins at 7200rpm.
Wasn't sure where to put this thread but...
I have a Canon parallel port scanner that worked great under Win2K and my Tekram dual slot 1 board (BX chipset). I recently swapped out my Tekran board for a VP6. Now my scanner works very slowly with the same settings that it was very fast with on...
I say that it is. I've been using SMP for three years now. It's true that not too many apps support SMP but you can run several intensive apps at the same time and not see the system stumble. Also, the system will seem so much more smooth. I say that if you can afford it to go for it.
Make sure you're not overclocking at all. I had the same problem with Win2K. Backed the CPUs back to default and didn't have another problem. After the install waws done I clocked the CPUs back up and all was well.
I just picked up a Voodoo3 3000 PCI for a Christmas gift for a buddy and it has SGRAM on it. Four SEC chips on the top of the board. Does anyone know how this card compares to the version with SDRAM? How do you think it will overclock?
Just for the record I bought it new and opened it to test...
I've been making DivX copies of my DVDs and bringing then to work to watch at lunch. I've been using the same res as the original DVD and the same audio freq. They play great on my machine at home but when I play them at work the sound and video don't stay in sync. If I go to another place in...
Thanks for the replies. I figured out why Flaskmpeg was crashing. I seemed that the latest avi plug in was doing it.
What res and data rate do you all usualy use for your movies?
I'm trying to cut some my DVDs into Divx so I can watch them at work during lunch. I put the DVD on my HD using DeCSS. I'm using the Divx 311 codex and the avi release 015 beta 4 plug in for Flaskmpeg. Every time I go to compress the DVD into .avi Flaskmpeg crashes. I've looked all over the...
My Atlas 10K seems to have died. I hoping that someone has seen this before and might know what to do. This happened yesterday and haven't been able to call Quantum yet because their tech support isn't open till Monday.
I was messing with an IDE disk and had my SCSI card (DC-390U2W) pulled out...
