I have a sound clip that I have made my windows startup sound sequence. However, apparantly there is a time limit of approximately 15 seconds and then the sound cuts off. Does anyone know of a registry key or hack that can be made to extend the cutoff interval?
I can't believe what I did today. I was tweaking my PC trying to figure out why my K8N Neo Platinum wouldn't overlock at all without not detecting my SATA WD Raptor drive. That's been fixed by simply moving the HD to either SATA3/4 on the motherboard. Apparantly the latter two are run off a...
I'm trying to fix a notebook computer for a friend. Turns out the hard drive is on it's last legs making clicking noises, so I'm going to need to get a new one. I looked up the specs and it's a Toshiba Satellite 5205-S705 with a 60GB 5400RPM ATA-5 HDD.
Looking on NewEgg, eBay, etc shows...
I used to work at Sears. I was a Merchandise and Customer Assistant. I hated working the Kids department because for some odd reason females like to urinate on the carpet in there. It happened several times before I quit, and started to reek REALLY BAD. People would come up to me and tell me...
YES, I love my Antec Sonata. The only thing that you may not like are the two blue LED's on the front on each side of the USB/audio/firewire ports. Wiring them is optional however. I like them myself, they are very bright. My PC lights up my entire desk area floor at night.
Everything's set to normal/auto and I have the latest BIOS update too.
I'm seriously thinking about ditching this thing and getting a Chaintech VNF3-250. It doesn't have some of the features of the MSI but I never had any use for things like Gigabit LAN anyway when the rest of my home...
Yeah, I thought Antec PS units were very good. Hopefully someone out there has an answer?
Would you mind posting the link to the MSI thread about this issue?
Thanks for the reply.
I have regular Muskin PC3200 RAM, nothing too fancy:

I haven't been getting any Blue Screens at all, just the weird boots.
Another thing I may add, when I overclock, the only thing I can change is the "FSB"...
My motherboard is acting a bit weird. This doesn't happen every time, but every once in a while when I reboot or power on my computer, it just 'hangs' at the BIOS screen. It doesn't attempt to boot to any device; all I see is the Platinum logo. The system is not locked up, as I can hit F10...
This is probably a dumb question, but I would like my computer to not show the Welcome screen or standard log on box when I turn on my computer. I am the only one that uses this computer and this is pointless. I've tried tinkering with the User Accounts settings in the Control Panel and don't...
Actually I'm thinking of doing this too. I currently have 1 Raptor 74GB 10KRPM SATA drive and my friend has 2 80gig SATA Seagates @ 7200RPM in RAID0. We both did a SiSandra File System Benchmarks. He gets 68MB/sec and I'm getting 54MB/sec.
OTOH, XP boots up for me with only HALF a swipe...
The hard drive's been formatted completely.
No, no previous partitions either. The thing about it is, this was before Compaq started putting their system restore files on a seperate partition, so there was only one partition on the drive brand new from the factory.
I'm bringing my circa 1998 Compaq Presario back to stock. I used the system restore disk to reinstall WIN98 and it's asking for a 25 digit Product key. I still have the Certificate of Authenticity and the key is only 20 digits long. Am I missing something?
I have the Antec Sonata and MSI K8N Neo motherboard with the same problem: the front USB ports don't work. I did what everyone else said and unplugged the brown wire from the USB block and everything works fine now. Thanks a lot guys. I was just going to give up and buy a 3.5" front mount...
