Granite Bay! Granite Bay! Granite Bay!

Did anybody bother to read the part where the FSB of Prescott is getting cut down to 166x4 instead of the original 200x4 BECAUSE a DC DDR chipset can't provide enough bandwidth for 200x4? The inferiority of DDR is ALREADY slowing down advancements and you guys cheer this? Not to mention the...

    1.6a or XP for oc'ing?

I believe the "physical" work he's talking about is the unlocking process.

    upgrading RDRAM

Make sure the old ram is PC800(400Mhz) ram(if it is not, then dump it and go with all PC800). Second you shouldn't have empty slots in a P4 rambus mobo...those empty slots need to be filled with CRIMMS.

    Wierd FCPGA CPU

Well, if I remember correctly the PPGA chips only had one corner pin missing. As far as missing other pins goes, my guess is it was pulled out of a socket with the retention arm locked and the pins were ripped out...because all the ppga, fcpga, fcpga2 cpus have 370 pins.

    PIII 800 to 1.13 - Worth it?

It depends on the mobo...usually you'll have to change the CPU speed setting from AUTO to manual...this then allows selecting different multipliers(which has no effect)and FSB speeds. Some mobo's just simply have no options but "stock" options(intel mobo's let you have a FSB of 66,100, or...

Using Two PSU's: One to supply the 12v molex and the other for the ATX connector on a P4B266-C?

I believe AT PSU's need an actual on/off switch(as opposed to closing two pins to send a signal to turn off). All the AT cases I've used always had a cable that physically ran to the case power button. You will probably need to buy a toggle switch at radio shack and connect it to the at PSU to...

P3 to AMD Mobo w/WinXP----> OS reinstallation needed?

You should be able to get by with a repair install...then you don't have to reinstall everything. If the repair install would fail then you still can do the full clean install and only lose a half hour if the repair install fails.

where in WINXP do I find the boot menu?

You can edit it from within XP by going to control panel/system/advanced/startup and recovery settings button/system startup edit button.

    PIII 800 to 1.13 - Worth it?

Only later 815's support tualatin. The 815 has been out for well over a year, and the first ones(the "A" stepping) did NOT support tualatins(I have an 815E board that WON'T take a Tua). Intel revised the chipset when they released the Tua's(the "B" stepping)but did NOT change the name. So the...

    PIII 800 to 1.13 - Worth it?

It will...provided it's the 815-e b stepping(it the same as the old 815e, but with tualatin support. His mobo will NOT take an FCPGA2 chip(ie tualatin). You most likely have a disguised INTEL mobo that doesn't have FSB over 133 so OC'ing is out of the question. The upgrade won't be worth...

Looking to Upgrade CPU. I have have a BE6-II V2.0

Make sure you get an FCPGA cpu(coppermine based P3's and celerons). There is no FCPGA tualatin processor, Tualatins are FCPGA2, so that is what you want to stay away from.

RDRAM-the undisputable leading solution for P4 with a bright future..!

When it was released (with the P3) it didn't benefit that chip any more than SDRAM because of the slow fsb of the P3(sdram already provided all the bandwidth the p3 could use).

    AMD Doomed?? PR Raiting Misleading??

<< Oh yeah one more thing; it seems that other forum has a real Intel bias or something: the last post was talking about if Intel made up a "PR rating" of their own, like calling the P4 2.5 GHz "Performance 5000" or something, and the guy said we would cry bloody murder if they did. Damn right...
