suse 10.1 and wifi

Are there any pci or usb wifi adaptors using the intel 2915ABG chipset?? I'm looking to put it on a desktop and they are all on mini pci cards... is there a way to interface the hardware to pci?? and then, it would be in a metal case with no antenna... any ideas?? thanks

suse 10.1 and wifi

My son is trying out linux 10.1 on his pc, and likes it, but the dlink wifi hardware won't work with it... the suse site only has a bunch of ????? by wifi hardware approvals... anyone have any recommendation on what will work?? He's using the kde interface. thanks

Need help with Dell 9300

I went with the wxga, too and am happy with the 9300. Also went with the 1.6 and it does what I need, even captures DV25 to an external HD without dropping a frame. Do get the go6800 card, though. It is better to have a slower processor and high end video card.

Thanks, that's what I thought, too, that the card would handle most of the work, but the clerk insisted... wanted to switch me to a Sony I guess. He made it seem a 17inch wuxga would be sluggish because of the screen, I guess that's why he's working at best buy. Like I said, the dropped frames...

He was talking apps with high frame rates.. I'm going to be using it for video field production and editing... even for those apps, though, the preview windows are small so I wouldn't think it would be a problem. But I did use a Sony 17" WXGA that did drop frames on full screen DV25 playback...

Yes, it does consume more power, but is more powerful... I'm using it to monitor video in the field and it replaces about $5000 in bulky hardware I lug to almost every job... This will serve as a field monitor, vectorscope, waveform monitor, audio analyzer, and backup recorder... It has 6 usb2...

I had a chance to work with a Sony viao today with a wuxga screen.. picked up a lot of light reflection.. distracting. But the the display was great for video, and that's what I do. I did notice that the 17" Sony Viao was a true Wuxga at 1920x1200 while the Dell is only Uxga at 1600x1200 ...

Hitachi 7200 RPM HD

for 2.5 drives, I like the fujitsu drives... they come with 3 year warrenty... hitachi only 1 year... although I do like ibm/hitachi drives, too.... I've used over 55 fo them in the past 3 years...

drive order problem

That's what I did... unplug the sata and install xp on the ide, then keeps the order I want.. The sata drives are used to capture video and audio only. thanks for the reply...

drive order problem

using an intel 875 board and have the ide and sata drives full... the ide was installed first and one became the c:sys drive, the sata was installed later and had another letter and is used to capture video.. recently, I've had problems with a video card and reinstalled windows, however bios now...

Each component is priced differently depending on where you enter the Dell site... for my exact same config, the home pricing with the $750 discount was better than the small business 35% discount by $169.75. All the upgrades were more $on the small business pricing scheme.

I bought two 2005fpw displays for video editing and I can't get the Matrox G450 card to run in the native 1680x1050.... I've installed the dell inf file and the latest drivers for the G450, but the closest it'll go is 1600x1024, Any ideas?? I've been thinking to getting the Matrox Parhelia...

Yes, but the closest the Matrox card comes is 1600x1024... that's the case even with their Parhelia 256mb dual DVI card, too.
