    My 2.6C overclocking results!

I'm getting the Hyper-X 3500 tommorrow, so I'll tell you how I go. It's pretty 'affordable' in that it's cheaper than Corsair/OCZ stuff, but it's not exactly budget RAM either!

    Thoroughbread or Barton

    Tbred 2600+ if you won't overclock, as it's a bit faster than a 2500+ at stock speeds. Overclocking, I would recommend a 2500+, it's a little cheaper, and overclocks to 2.2 - 2.3GHz aren't uncommon. That said, the 2600+ isn't a bad overclocker itself, quite a few make 2.3 - 2.4GHz if you have...

    My 2.6C overclocking results!

That is actually quite a good increase in clockspeed with only 0.05V increase, 90MHz. I need an extra 0.075V just to get an extra 97MHz! Oh well, I can't really complain, they did say D1s don't scale as well with voltage (I've seem some that don't scale AT ALL no matter the Vcore).

    My upgrade possiblities

Duvie, I 'only' have an Antec TruePower 430W PSU, and I can run my P4 @ 3.4GHz just fine. :-) I also have a 9800 Pro, which chews up quite a bit of power too. I reckon a good quality brand 400W PSU is enough for a high end rig.

    My 2.6C overclocking results!

Yeah, IMHO, it really isn't worth it to get that last 100MHz with an extra 0.15V or whatever. In fact, I might even consider running it at stock Vcore 3.3GHz during summer (I live in Australia, so it's winter here atm). I really doubt I would notice the difference between 3.4GHz and 3.3GHz...

2500+ is better Value then the 2.4C.. do you agree?

I understand that. As I said in my post, people with tight budgets (sub $1000) are better off with a 2500+ because the 2.4C would take too much of the overall budget. And FWIW, money actually *is* of concern to me, no matter what my financial situation is. If I was really rich, I would be...

2500+ is better Value then the 2.4C.. do you agree?

You know what I find funny about this argument by AMD fanboys? They treat it like the CPU price is the ONLY part of a PC. You calculate value by adding up ALL the parts of a system. Can you get a CPU to work by itself? NO. You need a mobo and RAM to go with it. And a PSU. And a HDD. And a...

    What should i get ? P4 3.0c or Hot girl? ( Pic's of Hot girl included ) :) :)

I would take the hot girl. :) You can always get a cheaper CPU. Which I think is a better compromise than scoring an ugly ass chic instead. Don't ya reckon?

    My 2.6C overclocking results!

Almost two weeks now. Hasen't skipped a beat. I 'burned it in' at 1.65V for a few days, but then reduced it to 1.6V and it seems pretty stable so far.

    My 2.6C overclocking results!

I only raise the Vcore to 1.75V or higher when I'm benching, only lasts a few minutes a session, don't think it will do the chip much damage at all. As I said earlier, my 24/7 speed is 3.4GHz 1.6V, I don't think this would do the chip any harm. Cheers.

    What speed rating for XP2.5ghz?

True duvie and bgeh, the FSB is important too. But strictly looking at clockspeed, I know somewho who has a TbredB @ 2.5GHz and Sandra reports it as a 3110+....
  13. A

    What speed rating for XP2.5ghz?

    A TbredB @ 2.5GHz would have a PR of 3100+. A Barton @ 2.5GHz would have a PR of 3400+.

***Official***BARTON watch thread - Official Launch AND REVIEWS

Actually, there is around a 5% difference between a Barton and a Tbred at the same clockspeed. Well, according to this Barton 2500 (p)review anyway: http://www.flickerdown.com/pn/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=7&page=5 With that in mind, I would definitely...

    which would be faster

LOL BS an oc/ed 2600+ would be faster... FACT: Most C1 2.66s can get 3.2GHz aircooled Most 2600s top out at around 2.4GHz aircooled Yes, I do realise Athlons have higher IPC, but even then, an AXP 2.4GHz *cannot* compete with a P4 3.2GHz... Just look at a 2.25GHz 2800+ and a P4 3.06GHz and...

    HyperThreading => even hotter? 3.06GHz+HT => 96W

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but apparently the 'theoretical maximum thermal dissipation' level can never be reached with everyday software, mainly because the whole of the CPU (ALU/FPU etc) is never 100% in use at all times... I'm sure HT keeps the CPU more busy in some cases, but...

In doubt between Athlon XP and Pentium 4

Athlon 2800+ In stock at New Egg!!!!

The 2800+ did win in a few benchmarks, but the 3.06 won the majority of them... So you're claiming that, on the whole, a 2800+ is faster than a 3.06 P4? Please... ;) BTW, the 3.06 is available for sale in Japan already, so it shouldn't be long for the US. I somehow don't think Intel wants to...

Will a 120mm fan work @5V on a Zalman fanmate?

Hi, I'm going to be getting a Zalman flower HSF soon but I want to replace the stock 92mm fan with a 120mm fan for better cooling and lower noise levels. There are two voltages available on the Zalman Fanmate - 5V and 11V. Obviously, I want to be able to operate the 120mm fan on both voltages...

    P4 2.5@400 vs 2.4@533 vs 2.53 for overclocking

The 2.5A will probably hit the highest clockspeed as its based on the latest C1 stepping. However, it will have a lower FSB and hence lower memory bandwith when overclocked, so overall performance would be similar to an overclocked 533FSB P4 even if the 2.5A attains a higher overclocked speed...

What are the specs on a stock P4 CPU fan..specifically dBA?

Rough estimate: Around 25dB(A) or so... fairly quiet, but not dead quiet. That is if its on average RPM though... the fan is temp sensing so it can get faster and a bit louder than that...

    best bang-for-the-buck p4 cooler

Antec case owners - how loud are the stock Antec case fans?

Hmm, thanks guys, but those 80mm NMB fans don't really push enough air at 18CFM. Yes, they are cheap, but my system is going to have a P4 2.4B and R9700 Pro, which run pretty hot and it ain't exactly cheap gear, so I still want moderately good cooling at a low noise level. I think I'll go with...

    2.26 vs 2.4b - the 2.26 OC's better right?

Actually, the 2.4Bs overclock pretty well. I would imagine they would hit around the same clockspeeds as the 2.26. It would be slightly slower than the 2.26 at the same overclocked speed though, because it will have a lower FSB. But since it is cheaper, I say just go the 2.4B.

please me help to choise P4 cpu

Umm.. why 2.5 over 2.53? P4 2.5 @ 3GHz = 480MHz FSB P4 2.53 @ 3GHz = 608MHz FSB Gee, I wonder which would be faster! The best choice is still the 2.26, which if overclocked to 3GHz will have a FSB of 708MHz. As well all know, higher FSB = better performance.
  38. A

    P4B 2.26: Good OC'er?

The P4 2.26 is an excellent overclocker. Most 2.26s should hit 2.8GHz with the stock cooler. I have even seen quite a few hit 3GHz with the stock cooler!

P4 2.5 Ghz OC success anyone? They are OUT now!

You don't follow the overclocking community much do you? ;) P4 2.26s are consistently hitting 3GHz air cooled, and these new steppings are hitting between 3.1 and 3.4GHz air cooled.
