I've had Benq, AOPEN, and Lite-on as rebadged units. The lite-on is by far the best drive of the three. I would not pay $ for the other two if I had the option of knowing before buying. Just my 2 cents.
Got this drive rebadged as a Ikebana retail kit about a couple of weeks back from outpost.com for about the same price after rebate. Flashed it to sony's dru 500a 2.0e f/w without a hiccup. All that I can say is that I'm very pleased with the performance of the drive.
Just got back from local C-USA, and they had their brand of 5 pack dvd-r on clearance for $9.99. Not as hot as their previous deal on these, (10 pack for $9.99) but not bad. I also hear of people getting these to burn a 2x.
gelos,
There's a possibility that you can get the retail sony for about $270-ish, before tax w/free shipping. It involves pm staples to buy.com and a coupon. Just be sure to use the aforementioned coupon before the pm.
Just got mine installed, very nervous about flashing tho! How many have flashed there's successfully?
I have everything to flash it, but just don't want to mess it up before I even use it.
MysticMan1,
Sony!! That's all I need to hear. Just placed my order.
Total w/overnight shipping $287.47. Subtract the $50 rebate, plus I have another $70 in received rebates w/nothing better to do. This drive just cost me a whoppin' $167.47 Shipped. Now that's smokin'.
Thanks...
Anyone know if this offers any burn protection? (burnproof, justlink etc.) I hear that MSI is going to be releasing a multi-read drive later in Q2 2003 with burnproof protection. Which I thought was sanyo's copyrights, licensed to other manufactures. ie Plextor. Which will be a hot...
Well the epox 8kha+ that I got from them for $69 was brand spankin' new, with everything incl. in the retail box. I've been running it for about a year w/o a hiccup! There warranty has change since then, but I believe newegg gives about 15 days on refurbs.
Yeah, I got in on this yesterday when they first appeared for $79. My better-half is going to kill me. I just built a 2.53 p4 system spec'd out, less than a month ago. Told her that was it for a while, and now this? Well on a good note, I'm upgrading my epox 8kha+ to this at a unbelievable...
Try the one with stickers, it's the lower price of the two. I just recieved the one w/out stickers, and it was the 64mb version. I'm keeping it however, it's for my wife's setup.
Hope this helps
Newegg is selling the older 4x version (which you referenced) and the newer 8x, which is the 128 8x version, I believe everyone is receiving. Will know for sure in a day or so.
Model#: GF4TI4200AGP8X
Model#: VCGF4Ti42APB
Why wait? I just ordered from newegg the exact same card for $127 and no shipping fee. If everything is what it's supposed to be, (the box w/o stickers) I should score a 128 8x version also. Besides if you look on PNY website, they don't even mention a 64 8x version, only 128 8x. Plus, I...
I don't think that they are waiting to send registration codes b/c of backorders? I received my code last week and proceded to order my bundle only to find out that the bundle was oos, and will ship approximately in 2 weeks.
Nothing again, this week! I am about to call it quits! I would really like to have this as a spare rig, but I am loosing my patience now. It is good to hear of others getting theirs this late, tho.
Still no code yet. I sent my info in around the first week of Nov. I'm just as frustrated as others! To make matters worse, I received an email from intel titled special registration today. It's the same stuff that I have already sent in! On a promising note, the email states that they are...
Just got back from the super target here in omaha, ne. I just happen to pickup the last one on the shelf. I was the notebook kit. I also notice on the shelf next to the kit was a temporary price cut sign and in small writing was a date of 12/08-12/28. The sale on the kit seems to be ending...
