Help please!

One thing: even if the heatsink was improperly installed, wouldn't that mean the hardware monitor would be reporting a higher temperature than 50C?

Hmm, as far as I can tell, the heatsink is installed correctly. The bend in the retention clip appears to be right over the die, and both ends of the clip are firmly hooked onto the center lugs. No part of the heat sink is touching the base. Right after shut down, the heat sink was warm, but...

It's what I have in my shopping cart for my new computer, purchasing next week when I have the money. That deal has been up for about 3 weeks now. Looks fine from what I can tell.

DVD: is 16x worth it?

Bah! That deal would be perfect, except the drive is not black :( Cheapest Lite on 16x black drive I can find is 43.00 at bananapc.com, I'll probably stick with that

Hmm, a Lite On 16x is what I had in my shopping cart before I started wondering if I needed a 16x at all. So the speed is different on the CD side as well? If so, I'll stick with the 16x, it's hardly more expensive, I'm just looking to shave every dollar if I can ;)

I'm not an avid movie watcher, not on my computer anyway. I've got a DVD player and a large TV, so I rarely use DVDs on my computer, I do use it sometimes though. Is 16x worth it then? Or is 8x plenty of speed?

Thanks for the great advice. The only Antec SX635 or SX630 cases I saw listed on newegg had "For Pentium 4" specified. Does that actually mean an athlon wont fit in it or something?

It was suggested to me that I should just get a retail version of a cpu, not the oem, since I likely won't be overclocking, and the retail will have a fan included. I was looking at the Radeon, but I've had good results with the geforce line before, so I'll likely stick with it. One question...

ok, found an a7v333 for little more than the other mobo. But what about the processor? I dont really need to stay on top with that, and the price between a 1.4 and 1.9 is a decent sized jump (in my budget). Even if the 1.4 is outdated, does it still perform well? Or should I really spend 60 more...
