Wait until your M3 has 8k-10k miles on it and take it to a DE track event. You'll quickly change your opinion. ;) The M3 is such a fine-tuned, harmoneous machine.

Refinement is right! The Z06 interior looks like a Cavalier. And it feels just as cheap.
I don't know what the deal is, but strippers and other "high maintenance" girls drool over a Corvette. And they usually hardly ever look twice at an M3. If anything, I get more guys drooling over my car than girls.
Yeah, you are probably right. Did you get a quote from Farmer's Insurance when hunting for a policy? That is who I go through. When I totalled my old M3, my agent had a check in my hand two days after the wreck. They've got my business for life. :)
SMG would be expensive to fix. But, that's what the 3yr/36k mile warranty is for! :) I most likely will never own any BMW longer than its warranty period. I came close with my 98 M3...but a miscalculated turn took care of that!
Damn...$250/mo is a lot! Mine is only $92/mo...and that's with a complete total on my record (destroyed my 98 M3 earlier last year). Who is your insurance company?
I usually post fairly regularly on Roadfly's e46 M3 board.
The rasp is usually present when my car is cold. Once warmed up, it goes away.
Did you get the SMGII tranny? I'm considering jumping back on a wait list for one. Everyone I've talked to swears by it.
Hey shooter...go easy on that young M3! You've got a 1200 mile break-in period where you should not take the engine above 5k rpms.
And trust me, that engine will loosen up in time. I've got 14k miles on mine and I can pretty much dust any stock C5 vette. However, the Z06 is a different...

The M3 is barely faster than the M5 from 0-90 (driver skill is more of a determinate). After that, the V8 in the M5 really shines. However, I've got about 3100 miles on my M3 and the engine appears to be loosening up more everyday. BMW claims the 0-60 on the M3 is 4.8 seconds. Car and Driver...
