Access to a failing HDD: Possible?

Increasingly occuring crashes....what hardware to replace?

OK I'm thinking it is the vid card. I'm assuming the new heatsink is powerful enough to disapate the heat under idle now, because I have not crased with the screen saver in 3 days. However it still crashes like crazy with my game. I'll see if i can maybe return the psu and buy a vid card...

Increasingly occuring crashes....what hardware to replace?

I'm sorry I dont agree. What is the chance three different OSes would all crash due to non hardware problems? I have been running 2000 for years without this sort of trouble. I'm virtually positive it is hardware...I just don't know where to begin. Power supply, vid card, other? All big $$

Increasingly occuring crashes....what hardware to replace?

Well I've read the thread thatwas further down and it was very helpful. I have been experiencing several annoying crashes per day over the last two weeks. I had a couple random ones starting about a month ago but they are hitting more now. It is worst when I am trying to play my new favorite...

Hard drive click-o-death fixable?

I had this prob on a 15gb IBM drive. I ran checkdisk and had windows fix all problems. Took awhile but it marks the bad sectors and doesnt try to read them anymore. You lose a few MBs but the harddrive has run OK since.

Break up the For Sale/Trade forum? Please

Hey mods, I've been around here long enough to know the For Sale forum is almost pointless to post in. It is a great place to shop as long as you search for the right things...but I was thinking maybe you could split it up somehow. If you could maybe split it into groups or types of equiptment...

Best Performing ATA HDD?

Thankyou all, I've got some thinking to do. Right now I'm just keeping all my needed files on the backup drive and hoping the failing IBM drive lasts me another few weeks. It ran QIII lastnight for an hour without issue, that was a goal of mine, so I'm happy. But I do need to get a new drive...
