Realplayer is the suckiest of the suck. I believe it had the distinction of winning the recent anandtech poll of worst software ever. I refuse to install it at all, my computer has been 'Real-free' for over a year. Sometimes there is some content I really want to see, available in rm format...

Norton's defragramenter vs. default Win 2000 and Win 98 defragramenters

Norton's defrag is pretty good, definitely better than microsoft's (which is really bad). Systemworks is a pretty good package and has some pretty useful utilities, the main ones being the AV and defrag, just beware of some of the others like cleansweep and crashguard (or whatever it's called)...

Windows 2000 vs. Windows XP

Here's another vote for win2k over winxp. I just spent the day installing xp pro on my girlfriend's computer and I found it to be quite annoying at times. And my god the interface is terrible -- even after turning everything back to "classic" windows, microsoft has hidden many advanced settings...

I think the gigabyte comes in a waterproof edition that is sealed in plastic--you might want to check that out. There may also be a retail edition complete with fire extinguisher for thermal emergencies... :D

To install software in win2k that everyone can use, simply install when logged into the admin account. However, you do have to make sure that the shortcuts (desktop, start button, etc.) to the program can be seen by everybody. Some badly written software will put them only where the admin can...

Zip Drive problems on 686B/A7V133 Motherboard

I have the same problem with 3 computer I built with the MSI pro2a motherboard. Never was able to fix the problem--the most annoying bug I have ever had to deal with. Getting rid of our zip drives isn't feasible, so still looking for a fix. Perhaps I'll look into this promise ata100 controller....

Norton SpeedDisk NOT COMPATIBLE with WIN2K Service Pack 2 ? What do i do please ? thanx xx

After installing SP2, I also get a warning from norton speeddisk saying it hasn't been tested with this version of windows. This is after running liveupdate. I think that you could go ahead and run it, doubtful that there are any problems. I haven't tried it myself though..

Outlook - Does anyone use it for anything other than e-mail?

Section of monitor....BLURRED?!?!

This is very likely fixed by your monitor's controls. Check if you have a "purity" control which allows you to adjust each of the four quadrants of the monitor indepedently. That will probably fix it.
