Duron 1.6 Cache enabling

I was interested in attempting the L2 cache mod and turn it into a 1900+. I've heard something to the effect of this not really working on post week 40 chips, but I was wondering if anyone could confirm that? Also, any tips / experiences with this process are most welcome. Thanks, Ben

Anyone with a Sony G400?

I am currently planning on purchasing a g400 from a friend, for around $200. I understand it's a good 19" monitor, but prices in this area seem to be dropping, and maybe I should be pushing harder for a discount? Any of your advice, experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

Haven't heard much about the new card, but I understand something to start looking for will be programmable vertex and pixel shaders, so the games companies can optimize the card for each game. Anyone know if this is so for these cards?

6 stage pipeline vs 20 stage pipeline

The basic jist of it is even though any pipeline will be finishing one instruction per cycle, a 20 stage pipeline will (ideally) be working on 20 instructions per cycle, vs. 6 in the 6 stage pipeline. Another thing to keep in mind: By increasing the length of the pipeline, you are ( I believe )...

DVD playback problems

Ok, so I guess my old system just had the decoders pre-installed. Never had to reinstall them again on startup though. I have Windows XP now. So I guess I need a new player now -- know any free ones? :). Or at least cheap?

DVD playback problems

I recently bought a new computer (dell p4 1.7) and installed my old toshiba sd-m1212 dvd drive. Only problem is, it doesn't work. Toshiba claims their drives don't need drivers, but clearly something is up. Computer recognizes the hardware, just can't play anything (not just a dvd video problem...
