Which GTX275 would you recommend?

I have two of these and one OC'd to 750/1300, and the second to 766/1268. The custom cooler is quite quiet in a single card config. I wouldn't SLI two of these with the stock cooler. Too much heat soak and one will spool up to nearly 100% fan speed which can get loud. In a decent case even OC'd...

Wow NV is basically beaten at all price points

Both the 2490 and 2690 have very good anti-glare/polarizing film. Neither has much sparkling at all. Only my Dell 2709W is better, and not by much, and it is one of the best I've ever seen. The 2490 and 2690's antiglare does not affect sharpness one bit. Out of these two, the 2490 is better...

The Xbox 360 now supports 1680x1050 resolution, so it will display correctly on that monitor with a VGA or HDMI to DVI cable. But since it only has one DVI port, you'd need an HDMI or DVI switch to share it between an xbox 360 and PC, but the difference between HDMI and VGA is pretty much none...

You might want to play with brightness settings to see if lowering or raising brightness changes the tone of the sound first. Sometimes the power inverter causes the noise and the nature or volume can be changed by changing brightness. I'll assume you've used this exact PC with other monitors...

Yes, it always had this problem with 1920x1080 over VGA. Other resolutions worked fine though. This affected the G2400W/G2400WD and V2400W over their lifespan.

Something *looks* odd (PS3 w/ an HP 24"inch monitor)

The PS3 will not allow you to uncheck 480p because that is the minimum resolution it supports when an HDMI cable is connected. If it was the composite cable that came with it, it would allow 480i. The aliasing issue is a PS3 feature. There is no hardware scaler on the PS3 that I know of, so...
