ASUS IPIBL-LA replacement ?

I think you are correct. I originally purchased 2 identical HP's with IPIBL-LA's. When I found the motherboard problem, I swapped the HD's and it booted normally. So I think if I get a new IPIBL-LA everything should work.

ASUS IPIBL-LA replacement ?

I have an HP m9000t with a IPIBL-LA. I think it took a surge hit. Press the power button and complete silence. The power supply appears fine (led is lite). The HD was swapped out to another PC and it's fine. So I'm thinking the MB is fried. Any recommendations on just buying another...

Thanks for the reply! I don't have an objection to refurb's but it's tough to recommend them to others that are more neophytes. He likes Dell, so I might look at their refurbs.

Dual Monitor - Power Saver not working

I've never had a problem downloading from the site before. Next Question... The DE site has 1006_01 & 1005 while the USA site only has 1005. What's in 1006?

Finally my -V has arrived. Two things are true... 1. Playing the Post Reporter thru the internal speaker is a joke. (Antec 880) Sounds like she is underwater. At least I think it's a she. 2. Formatting an 80gb drive takes forever. :(

Dumb 'Power Supply' Question of the Day

Based on last night's experience, I would agree that you need to short the power supply to "turn it on". Unfortuately, I can't test that at the moment -- work keeps getting in the way. I'll have the motherboard today, so I'll know definitively if it's good or bad. Thanks for all the input.

I picked up a new Antec 880 case w/ True 430 PS. I'm still waiting on the motherboard to arrive, so I was doing prep (installing hd, floppy, etc). Without any HD, floppy plugged into the PS, I plugged it into the wall and turned it on. I expected the PS fans to turn & hear the PS hum. But...

Re-read the 2nd sentence of the start of this thread... "It would crap out at any FSB over 140" So, it's got "headroom" above the stated specs. My 16yrs of engineering experience tells me that's 6+ over stated specs. :P Thugs & Anne: Just be honest...You want something for nothing. I'm ok...

So when something works within specs...it's utter garbage. Does your logic also apply to your Lexus, that can't do 0-60 in under 4 secs? Didn't you put "good" ram in it so that wasn't a bottleneck? What's the difference? John

New Config... Comments welcome!

I'm in the market for a 2nd setup. The 1st setup is a P3-450, so anything will be an improvement. Nothing in this config will be used in the new one--it's being re-tasked to be a Win2k or Linux server. Just so everyone understands my priorities...I'll list them... 1. Stability 2. Future-proof...
