RAM Timings- Command Rate

Does anybody know if there is a benefit to setting your RAM to 1t Command Rate VS 2t? I have single 512MB DDR DIMM, it is currently 1t. It seems to run fine but if there is no really benefit (>5%) I would like to turn it down and raise the bus speed or some of the other timings; these are my...

AMD owners- What do to do in the post nforce2 era?

Got my AMD Athlon 2400+, need tips on OC

The CPU comes unlocked from the factory, I could only select multipliers from 13-22 but people with KT400 chipsets (I have a Kt333) should be able to select multipliers from 7.5-22.

Got my AMD Athlon 2400+, need tips on OC

Yeah, the YS-Tech fans are awesome, I have two in my case. I'm going to drill two holes in on of my empty bays to expose the dials. When they get to 2600 rpms they are silent while still pushing out enough air for web browsing/word processing.

Got my AMD Athlon 2400+, need tips on OC

I dropped the VCORE to 1.7 volts, still runs stable so I'll stay at this. My 3dmark score was ~11500 with 2200+ and is now ~12,400 with the 2400+ running at 166*13. Of course, the 2200+ tests were done with the Detanator 30.82 while the new test was done with the detonator 41.02.

I finally got my AMD Athlon 2400+. This ship runs ~40 degrees farhenheit cooler than previous 2200+. I lowered the multiplier to 13.0 and raised the bus speed to 166 an my A7V333. Runs great a 2.17 GHz but I had to up to volatage to 1.75 (Its rated at 1.65). Is there any possiblility for long...

Anybody got one of those 2400+ chips running yet!!!

I got mine today, runs ~40 degrees cooler than my 2200+. I haven't tried overclocking it. I have question though, is my CPU automatically unlocked - Can I just select any multiplier on my A7V333? Thanks

Linux Users Come here

I think I got it, Thanks for the suggestions jliechty and n0cmonkey. It ended up being changing my mouse from PS2 to USB. Linux doesn't seem to recognize my old USB mouse and thus refuses to boot up into X windows. With a Ps2 mouse it works fine.

Yesterday I booted up my K6-3 Redhat Linux box, I haven't used it for like 2 weeks. When I booted and selected the latest kernel (10) it didn't go into KDE. Rather, it just stayed in the command line. I can log in and use the HTTP server but there is no GUI. What happened? How do I get into KDE...

AMD Athlon 2400+

I'm getting my Asus A7V333 back from Asus RMA next week. Will this board boot with the AMD Athlon 2400+ or does it require an updated BIOS to even boot? I don't have a CPU to swap so it would be helpful if this would boot right out of the box. Thanks

I'm looking for "safety" colleges for a CS major. I'm applying to MIT and Carnegie Mellon SCS as reaches but need to find some safeties. I have pretty good stats (1520 SAT, Hard Course load, etc..). RIT seems attractive, any other universities I should be looking at in the Northeast? Thanks.

Athlon Unlockers, help!

While my board is at RMA I decided to keep myself busy. I tried to unlock my t-bred, while doing so I covered the L3 label with conductive ink, thus it is connected to the 5th L3 bridge. Does this label do anything? Will it mess up my unlock? Thanks

guys, this sucks. It wasn't my CPU, I have now confirmed its not my RAM either. Its the board. I can't believe this? My computer was fine, why did I have to try to unlock my T-bred. It messed up everything.

Well thats the thing, I know ASUS is running the RAM out of spec. However, ASUS is shipping these boards with the jumpers in place to run the RAM at out of spec voltages and the RAM performs much better at the default voltage.

Ok, I didn't changed the voltage from the default as many recommended simply because my RAM can take much better timings with the defaults voltage. Anyways, last week I RMA'd my T-bred thinking that was defective, Newegg refunded my money and I ended up getting a better processor (week 23 fab)...

Athlon @ 2.485 at HardOCP

1.8 GHz does not refer to the AMD PR Rating. The AMD PR Rating is not intended to mean "GHz" or "Mhz" instead it is a comparison to T-bird CPU's. So by saying 1.8 GHz Athlon it would mean that I am reffering to the AMD 2200+.
