Would a new GTX 760 be wasted on an older AMD motherboard?

Thanks folks. I put my friend's 760 in my system, after uninstalling the AMD drivers and cleaning the registry. Games seem a bit better, but the system is acting odd, and my USB ports are no longer working correctly. I suspect the AMD chipset drivers are unhappy. I can't find them anywhere...

Anybody know how much performance I should expect to get using a new GTX 760 with an older AMD based motherboard? The board is an ASUS M3A78-T which uses the AMD 790GX/SB750 chipset and PCIe 2.0.

Thoughts on upgrades for my system $500-$600 budget

Thanks. I already have one of the LG blu-ray players. It came with PowerDVD 7.3, or at least I was able to upgrade it to 7.3. It's not great, but it does the job for now. Of course I'm using mine with a C2D 6600 and a 3870 X2. The upgrade to WinDVD 9 Ultra or Power DVD 8 Ultra is around...

Thanks guys. I have a single core 4000+, it has the 1MB L2, which was a big deal in the day. I'm not sure which heatsink I have as I can't check it right now. I guess I might get a cheap aftermarket down the road.

Thanks. I just realized for sound to go to the HDMI cable the nVidia cards needs a connector that this motherboard doesn't have. So I reckon it'll be ATI. Maybe 3850 series is what I'm thinking. The ATI cards have sound onboard.
