Greetings. I'm trying to get sound working on my Shuttle AK31 motherboard (ac97 on-board sound). I'm running Redhat 7.2. I downloaded drivers from alsa.org & did a "make install". Now I'm stuck - the docs say to add the drivers to the /etc/modules.conf and run a modprobe. It wasn't clear to me...
Yeah, when eccp finishes we should try and get people over to genome... it should be pretty easy to climb the team rankings with a few more active members.

Another good day for the TA G@H team 30 out of 190 active teams for the day. If we keep this up we'll be passing DTSO and PalmKillers very soon:
Rank Team................. Total
21.. TeamPCCritix......... 87755 +0
22.. BEER................. 86852 +305
23.. polghiv_szeged_hu.... 82157 +154...
Thanks. Neither box is running any firewall software...
I would think the wireless gateway would either have routing settings (there aren't, as far as I can tell) or it should be doing proxy arp.
It looks like the access point is forwarding the laptop's MAC address, which is shouldn't be...
Greetings. I just set up a wireless network with a netgear MA401 pcmcia card (laptop) and a netgear ME102 network access point. The laptop can ping my server and get to the internet. My problem is that my server can not ping back to the laptop.
The laptop is 192.168.1.101 and the server is...
Thanks for the stats dnetmhz - you're doing a great job.
I'm feeling guilty that I'm not in the top 100 club - just added two 1.2Ghz T-birds (at least for a couple of days)...

yup , "cat /proc/cpuinfo" will work. If you're trying to measure something specific like integer or floating point performance you could run rc5 or seti...

Any functionality like setiq? IE: multiple users, stats, etc?
EDIT: just answered my own question (RTFM). I'm not a java guy, but this could be the beginning of some cool stats...

We're also beating them in genome@home (genomeathome.stanford.edu)...
Actually I thought Anand had been doing a reasonable job (although by no means excessive) promoting the team(s). I see TA stuff in the FAQ section of the site, and the "Learn About Team Anandtech" pops up every 25...
Yeah, I was thinking about this a while ago. I talked to the author of setiqueue & asked if I could get a copy of the source code (so I could put in modifications to support RR & port to something cross-platform like perl), but no go.
Any ambitious programmers out there? I did some...
Also, are they keeping up with the new data being recorded? IE: can they process a 1 hour radio telescope recording in more or less than an hour? I bet they have more CPU power than they know what to do with.

It looks like the seti stats were at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu this morning/last night and now they're back to http://iosef.ssl.berkeley.edu. What the hell?!?! Just pick a URL and stick to it.

Your old OS can't boot Cdrom? Because you don't have a CDROM or some other reason. Sunos has been able to boot off cdroms for at least 10 years...

Yes, you can do this... I _THINK_ the solaris install gives you an option or something. Check out the solaris x86 FAQ:

Can't speak for klinux specifically, but I've set up lots of linux boxes with no mouse, video card, or keyboard. I use a serial port for the console and connect with a Windoze hyperterm. Works like a champ. Very easy to set up - let me know if you want the specifics.

Linux router will probably handle this without any problems. We have a 300 Mhz PII that is NATing and firewalling for about 500 people on a shared T3, and we don't have any problems.

The sunblade 100 ain't that great. Only single 500Mhz with a whimpy 256k cache (I believe), and lame-o IDE hard drive. Now the Sunblade 1000 - that's another story: up to two 750Mhz & 8megs cache, scsi...

Not sure what you're trying to test/prove here... the switch and the hub should be similar if you're sending/receiving to 1 machine. Now if you did something like:
Server A <--> Client B
Server C <--> Client D
Server E <--> Client F
All doing transfers of (for example) large files at the same...
Yeah, that SC2000 is ancient - wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole (& what are you gonna do if it breaks?!?). Stick with x86.
Personally, I'd go with some Thunderbirds & overclock 'em. If you're really stuck on SMP (I can identify), I'd go with some MSI 694d's or abit VP6's. Nice...
