Diamond Size

A Military Enthusiasts Dream

I've been. Its fairly nice.... especially if you are a military HISTORY buff. Lots of WWII and Vietnam-era planes, equipment, etc. If you're expecting the bells and whistles of modern naval aircraft (or ships!), you'll be disappointed... but otherwise its great.

My 2 cents: First, an MD and a PhD (as so many others have mentioned) are very different programs with different intentions. Do keep in mind that a PhD is significantly longer than an MD--most MD programs are four years post-bachelors while PhDs (especially in the sciences) are 4+ years...

dullard... while I admit it has a steep learning curve, it really is quite efficient once you know it. And the print output is stellar. And as far as writing a dissertation... if it takes ANY significant portion of your time getting a PhD, you're doing it wrong. I wrote my dissertation...

I somewhat feel the same way, dullard. ME/ESM is just so hard to get a teaching-only job. And I like research. I just don't know if I want to deal with the complete lack of job security (even if you do a good job) at high-tech places.

Got a new nerd toy

The difference between master's and PhD is a pretty simple one: one is essentially the pre-requisite for the other. Very few people (at least in engineering) complete a PhD without having a masters... if so, they're required to take the classes that a typical MS student would have taken...
