Nice Apple deals...

shipping costs out of country...

I'm considering sellilng a wheel (motorcycle) to a buy in Adelaide, Australia. No tire. I figure the package would be roughly 27" x 27" by 5" (small wheel) and weigh, I dunno, 20-30 pounds? UPS said roughly $280...but man, that's awfully expensive. Anybody know if USPS would be cheaper?

RECOMMENDATIONS: 22" monitor for gaming ??

I'm a big fan of cheap LCD. :) Got a cheap 22" from V7 in December for myself, and a week later bought another cheap off-brand model from Newegg. Both have been working just fine. Both were under $200.

Geforce 2 GTS 64meg or Voodoo 5 5500

I'm still running my BH6 box with a celeron @ 1100 Mhz as my main linux server. That things has ran nearly 24/7 since around 2000. By far, best machine I've ever built for reliability. :thumbsup:

If you want nostalgia sweetness, try to find the Obsidian X-24 Voodoo2 Dual SLI cards on one card monster. That thing was a dream come true for me for a while...and I bought it 2 or 3 years AFTER it was prime time stuff, lol. Guy I bought mine from even had the original receipt...

I have an older motherboard with a PCI-Express slot currently running an older GeForce 7300GT. I'm thinking of upgrading to a newer 8800GT card but all the ones I see state "pci express 2.0" in the advertisement. I'm not sure if this board is/supports the 2.0, would the cards still work but...

How to get more carbs in my diet?

Isn't that the point of some of the "diets" out there, though? Bulk up on protein and low fat, and the body will turn (eventually) to the fat stores to get the energy it needs. I don't know...I'm just asking btw.

I've always enjoyed Krispy Kremes...seriously! They are great...and I'm sure HIGH in calories/carbs. Although, I confess, they are likely the "bad" ones. :(

I've got the revision 1 board, and it's very CPU limited. If I had a 2.0 board, I'd be all set. I think in the end, I'll just need to hang on to them a bit more.

I'm motherboard limited and don't want to spend more $ on motherboard (which may require power supply upgrade, etc...) Which is the better CPU? Prescot based Pentium 4 (520, 530, 540, 550, 560, etc. ) or Pentium D based (920, 930, 940, 950, 960, etc.) I'm running a 2.8Ghz Prescott 520...

Faster internet with Vista?

Willing to bet what? My cable connection can maintain 16Mbit downstream connections from hosts capable of sustaining the speeds. I consistently download multiple torrents with some at @ 1.0+MBytes/sec speeds. A T-1 just seems.....so slow nowadays. :)

Nevermind...found it. Can be done with ifconfig on Solaris. I guess the linux equivalent is just a scripted shortcut using ifconfig.

Hi. In my linux box, I can type: ifdown eth0 ifup eth0 and that effectively (even if incorrectly) will restart my eth0 ethernet device. How can I do the equivalent in Solaris? I want to, basically, 'restart' the ethernet device named eth0.

what exactly does Thunderbird do?

I have to disagree. Telling someone their preference for where to start typing is stupid, is stupid. I can sort my email messages to show first message on top, or bottom, (effectively, date/timestamp of the messages) so why shouldn't I be able to sort the email itself the same way?

What are the Top 5 FPS games

Quake 2 is, still, the best FPS game I have ever played....from a DM perspective. Serious Sam (all varieties) are still the best FPS games I have played....from a fun factor (especially co-op mode) perspective. Farcry was a great, IMHO, FPS game....from a single person player game...

Panda uses a whole lotta resources at system boot time. I would only recommend for win xp systems (no ME/98)...but that's just my opinion. IF you have lots of RAM and the system is fairly clean (no outdated drivers/hardware that doesn't quite work right) then you'll have no problems with those...

Replace stock heatsink fan in Dimension 8400 possible...

Just my luck, wasn't the fan. Gotta be: processor, motherboard, or just bad engineering? Surely these things aren't THIS loud everywhere. It's fairly quiet...UNTIL I fire up a game, or open a few items. After brief pause, item opening will eventually settle down the fan. Fire up Quake2...

Replace stock heatsink fan in Dimension 8400 possible...

I could do the resistor thing, but I hope it turns out to be a bad fan/sensor. If that fixes it, all is well. If not, I will use the resistor idea....if that doesn't satisfy me, I'll opt for a new motherboard (I have a spare case...just like the looks of the dell). Thanks for the input...
