Error installing SuSE Linux 8.1

I was just wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the SuSE 8.1 ftp install. After I supply the ftp server and the directory, I get this error: "Error while accessing the FTP server: File not found" I've tried this many times with different dirs, anything I could think of...I think...

apt-get for Redhat is dope!

apt is available for SuSE, too. Though, I'd much prefer to use debian for my apt needs...

RedHat or Mandrek Linux??

Personally, I prefer SuSE to the 3 others, because YAST rocks. It just seems easier to set up anything, for example, during the install, it gives you the chance to put your monitor disk into the floppy drive, and it extracts the settings for it. The install itself can be done in about 3...

which OS is easiest to install? ***POLL***

I think that the SuSE 8 install from DVD would prolly be easiest...no switching of disks, and I think it's only about 3 clicks if you let SuSE go with the defaults... The net install of SuSE aint too bad either, tho it requires that you specify an ftp to get the files from.

Geforce 4 problems

I've experienced a similar problem to the one you described first. XP setup wouldn't load with the GF4, but would with my old v3. As for the second part, have you tried leaving the geforce 2 in the slot and just trying to play with it? At least that way you could determine if it's the GF4...

Ti4200: Faster RAM vs. More RAM

I couldn't decide that either so I bought a Gainward GeForce4 PowerPack ! Ultra/650XP Golden Sample. This is a 128Meg card, but the 'golden sample' means gainward guarentees its overclockability. Therefore, you get 128 megs at the speed of the 64 (at least). It's actually the one Anandtech...

Geforce4 == 2 monitor support?

Yes. As long as one is a DVI monitor and the other is VGA...If they're both VGA monitors, a DVI to VGA adapter will be needed.

My mouse no longer works in USB mode!

Yeah, after reinstalling windows and while mouseware, I got a message saying something like "without usb, you will not be able to use the full 800dpi of this mouse"... So i tried once more, plugging it into a USB port. Windows found it. Installed the drivers. Everthing was ok. It worked. wtf...

Which order to install drivers in Linux?

Later today I'm going to install Mandrake 8.2 on my computer and I was wondering in which order to install the drivers. Speciffically, the driver for my GeForce 4 Ti 4200, which can be gotten from nVidia's website, and the driver for my audigy...once i figure out the install...

Actually, I ended up just using the voodoo3 I had upgraded from, and that worked fine. When windows was on, i swapped the cards and voila!

I've tried that, and it doesn't work. No matter where it's plugged in, still no go. The best that happens is windows will recognize it and try to install the drivers and then fail that...

XP pro not installing with GF4 Ti 4200

When I try to install XP by booting from the CD, it goes through its pre-install steps, then comes to a point where it says "starting windows", hangs there for a bit, and then a blank black screen comes up. Anyone else have this problem and/or know how to fix it?
