Ah...well then, I may be screwed. The VA-10 appears to have no settings in the BIOS to increase or decrease the multiplier. For that matter, doesn't even list it.

AMD Mobile and desktop PC problems

I'm having trouble with a Mobile 2400+ (Barton core) I bought. I'm running it in a Abit VA-10 mATX board (via KM400 chipset). It will POST, but it doesn't recognize the CPU. This is what it reads: Main Processor: Unknown CPU Type 606 MHz. Anyone had similar problems with the Mobile Athlons...

Abit IC7 (not IC7-G) and onboard NIC?

Just got my IC7 board from IC7 board from Newegg (it is not an IC7-G). The newegg description very clearly states that it doesn't have a NIC, and the pictures of the board on the site clearly show just a large, solid chunck of metal by the USB ports where you'd normally find a NIC. This is...

2.6c or 2.8c

After some deliberation, I settled on the 2.8c. Ordered from newegg today. thanks for the input! *fingers crossed*

2.6c or 2.8c

My concern is that I have heard the 2.6c is quite hard to get pushed up to 3.5ghz, and the 2.8c was *very* luck of the draw. I am concerned w/ overall performance (which is what i should've originally said). Just trying to figure out which would be best giving the components i'm already buying.

2.6c or 2.8c

I'm planning on buying an Abit IC7 with 1GB (2x512) of Corsair PC3700. With stock cooling, would I be able to generally achieve better overall performance from overclocking a 2.6c or 2.8c? I'm less concerned with the percentage increase I can get in clock speed as I am with the overall speed.

Geforce2 (AGP 4x compliant)?

I have an old Geforce2 card, which is 4x AGP. This *should* work in this board. i.e....even though this board (The P4P800, non-deluxe) has an 8x AGP slot, it should be backwards compatible?

I'm looking to buy this board and a 2.4c for overclocking. I had read back about a month and a half ago that this board was very finicky w/ memory. What memory has someone had luck with OC'ing the 2.4c with on this board?

Abit IC7 875P chipset motherboard

Even if for some crazy reason your old Netgear card dies, you can pick up a reliable 10/100 NIC anymore for less than $15. Even on my University's DS-3, my 5 year old ethernet card never was a bottleneck

What type of memory works well w/ P4P800

What type of memory besides Corsair have people got to work with the P4P800 for overclocking? I'm trying to find something else besides shelling out $250+ for a gig of PC3500 Corsair. Has anyone even gotten the Corsair PC3200 to work for overclocking on this board?

Do P4's still require a special case and/or mobo to mount their HSF? I've got an Antec case that I bought in September '01 (I can't find the model number on it...it's all painted. there are three (3) 5.25" bays, a single floppy drive, and 3 internal drive bays). I'm wondering if it will be...

Abit IS7 to Asus P4P800

I'm looking at getting either the Abit IS7 or the Asus P4P800 with a P4 2.4c. Which board would I be better of getting for OCing purposes if I want to take it up to around 3.1 Ghz or so? (The ~$35 difference isn't really a big deal). Thanks.

Overclocked 2.4C and asynchronous PCI Bus?

I've been looking at buying a 2.4c and overclocking it by upping the FSB, but was wondering what issues there would be concerning the PCI bus running in asynchrous mode by not running at 33Mhz. Is this no longer an issue, or am I running the risk of data corruption?

I actually agree. If you have low standards (like me) this is usually effective. They'll ask you to resubmit the form and send in a copy of the UPC too. Make sure you don't send in the original one, or they'll know you fibbed.

Are DVD-9 discs available on the market or is DVD-5 all that's available. Are there any DVD burners which can burn DVD-9 media?

HELP*** CPU Temp is 53 C/127F

I wouldn't worry about it. My cpu routinely runs around 67 C (has been doing it for over a year). I know that's absolutely god-awful, but I've never had problems with instability and such.

Athlon XP and Athlon T-bird...temperatures?

As a general rule, would an Athlon XP 1800 run cooler than an Athlon T-Bird 1.4 GHz (assuming the same case setup, HSF and such)? My T-bird is running quite toastily, and I was wondering if upgrading to a new cpu might lower the temp. Also, while putting on my heatsink, I ended up rounder one...
