*** Official EPoX 4PCA3/+ (875P) Thread ***

I just switched from 4PEA+ to 4PCA3+. First problem - my 2 samsung ddr400 chips wont work dual channel. Tried various dimms(a-data, v-data) - all worked. Also mixed samsung - a-data/v-data - works but only with one of the samsung dimms, the other - which is original samsung - refuses to work...

The EPoX 4G4A+ seems very promising.

The last 3 digits show the date: 2424 - 4/24 2709 - 7/09. The other dates are the upload dates.

You can find the BIOS in the AOA Files section, just search for '4g4a'. Btw. theres also a beta bios dated 07/09.

Based on my experience: 1. Use dimm slot 2 2. Dont use the latest bios, flash the 04/24 one or older... 3. Use only one stick ram, try as many as u can find, till u get the suitable, the fastest ram usualy dont clock well on 4g4a+ (845G), because it causes the agp instability and lockups. Some...

Read the thread from the beginning. There are solutions of the problem posted (some from me). And yes, from what i read, this is common for all 845g mobos :-)

Well, in this case i advice you to put your ddr in slot 2, you'll get higher fsb :-)) In fact i run fsb161 ddr402 at the moment...

Yeah, gsethi, you got ~7800 with this setup, with the inf you got ~8300 with ddr333, well, i would rather think which setup is better :-))

Hmmm, it seems that weve found the problem, but not the solution. Hope all this will get to Intel :-)) Well im on win2k and i really dont want to install winxp, but if this is the only way.... :-((

gsethi, have you tried some games, some 3dmark2001 loops with the mem at 420. Because everyone gets the lockups except you. Have you installed the intel inf update, thats pretty important, i have the filling it has something to do with the lockups.

I see.... Well, then remove your fsb jumper, so your default fsb will be 133 and you wiil be able to use the 4:5 mem divider, which gives you fsb160 - ddr400 :-)) Another thing, there is a bios dated 04/12, i downloaded it from epox.nl i guess, its older version but more stable, try it.

Thanx gsethi! Please run 5-6 cycles of 3dmark2001 just to be sure. As conclusion i cant find any other reason for the lockups except some incompatibility of the chipset and the video card (perhaps fastwrites, agp 4x, ill try to disable and see)

To all: Not the FSB causes the problem, its the mem clock, if u run 160 FSB at 1:1, that makes DDR320, not a problem at all. But if u use 4:5(DDR 400) its a big problem to avoid the agp locks. MetroRider: I dont know about NVidia cards, i just make assumptions. Please dont forget to comment...
