Yes, I flashed to the M6811 BIOS on my M6805 and it resolved my SP2 issues. Just make sure you flash while plugged in or with plenty of battery power left. Assuredly voided the warranty, but eMachines does not support SP2 or condone its installation. :)
Also make sure you don't have the AMD PowerNow software installed. I've successfully transitioned my notebook to use full speed on batteries and back to only 800 MHz simply by installing or removing the PowerNow software as needed. The PowerNow software has to be the version for mobile...

Anyone else installed SP2 and having problems? My M6805 no longer powers off correctly at shutdown. The event log says that the APCI embedded controller is not responding and that I might need a new BIOS.
Also, the little internet and e-mail buttons do not work after installing SP2. Bummer.
Those numbers for the 7K60 are somewhat disappointing--I am expecting a 7K60 in tomorrow via UPS. Still, the gap between your 7K60 numbers and the 5400 rpm drive is quite large when compared to the 5400 vs. 4200 rpm drive...I think it is a worthwhile upgrade.

I have an M6805 with the 4200 rpm Hitachi drive. It shows up under device manager as HITACHI_DK23FA-60. Using HD Tach 2.70 I got the following results:

It could be that AMD is using a really poor HSF combo in the retail box and it will have to be replaced...idling at over 50 C just seems way too hot to me.
