the 29160n would be fine for a server envirment unless you have a server with a 64bit pci slot the you might want to look into an adaptec 29160 or the 39160 and the tekram DC-390U3D or DC-390U3W. (both 64bit pci)

i had the same problem with the mx300. i used the beta win2k drivers that aureal had up on there support site. just make sure you follow the install directions exactly thats included with the beta driver.
oh after all that i also replaced my mx300 with a live :)

to play avi video files encoded with the DivX codec you need to d/l this program DivX codecs
unzip
install and
run the setup program
and make sure you use media player 6.4
7 messes up DivX movies playback
fastest 10k drive is the quantum atlas 10k II (which is still not out yet) and a very close second is the seagate cheetah 18xl
but the fastest scsi hd is the new cheetah x15 15k drive.
