The 9700 is a good card, I don't think anybody can deny that. Is it fast? sure it is, but so will the NV30. No current card is going to be pushing 150 fps in up and coming games for another few GPU generations. They are definately playable, just not god like frame rates :)
Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am currently building a computer, so its not quite ready to use yet. If I buy this now, can I install it and use it lets say in the fall with no problems. I'm asking because I don't know if I will be able to update it to the latest version whenever I can...
You should be able to hit 2.4 with no problems, but as you know, some just do not overclock very well at all. Just the nature of things, but you should be fine with that setup, hope it works out great :)
The Radeon 8500 is a good card, but I personally would go with the Ti4200. Why you ask? Just because I have both and prefer the 4200 for gaming, but for 2D, the Radeon wins.
I have owned both LiteOn drives and Plextors, they are both great drives but I believe that the Plextor is of higher quality. Sure it may cost more but I would pay the extra for the Plextor.
I love using Mozilla, have used it for a little over a year now, sure their are bugs, but what browser does not have bugs? I still use IE because of its compatability though.
Yeah you got ripped off big time on this one. I have NO clue why this card has not come down in price. Like the others said, return it if you can and get a 4600.
I agree with the posters here, I have the Z560's and for gaming, they are great. But for musical reproduction, they are not that great, seem muddy sounding to me. Just my $0.02, hope we all could help.
The orientation should not matter in respect to performance, life span or anything else. Like the rest of the posters said, the manufacturing techniques are very good these days. I just prefer to have mine horizontal, call me old fashioned :)
In games such as QuakeIII and UT2003 of course you want 60fps or above to keep the motion smooth during heavy battle scenes. Do we need 150fps? that depends on who you ask and what they consider "playable".
I absolutely agree, AMD's pricing gives them a great advantage over Intel's much pricier parts. AMD has made alot of money with their current scheme, so why stop.
I too will be glad to see the number of cheaters reduced significantly if possible. The game is NOT alot of fun when there are alot of cheats running around.
Nice config for the person you are buying it for. The video card is iffy but if they are not a avid gamer, than it isn't a huge deal. The Lite-On is a great CDRW btw.
I think the new card is going to be faster than the 4600, ALOT faster? I don't know about that, I will wait until both ATI and NVIDIA both release their cards, then make a judgment. The drivers have been getting better for ATI but not much in my opinion.
I too do not see the need for people to worry about this. AMD is doing just fine where they are and they are putting their efforts into Hammer so I will just wait until then to pass judgment.
ATI has been known to put out crap drivers but their drivers are definately getting better. Better than Nvidia's? not in my opinion but improving all the time. I hope this card does live up to its hype.
I personally can't wait to at least see how the card does in gaming. If it is fast, then more power to them, in my opinion the more competition for ATI and Nvidia the better for all of us.
